Publisher's summary

Fifteen of the best indie authors. Fifteen extraordinary stories. One best-selling universe.

It’s the 22nd century. The galaxy has opened up to humanity as a hyperactive beehive of stargates and new technologies, and we suddenly find ourselves in a vast playground of different races, environments, and cultures. There’s just one catch: We are pretty much at the bottom of the food chain, and there’s only one way for humanity to move up - by becoming mercenaries.

In every mercenary’s life, though, there comes a time when things go wrong and even the best laid plans go awry. When they do, though, the best mercs fall back and work out new plans, and you can bet on one thing - hope is not their strategy. Whether you’re a kid looking to get off your planet, or an unarmed merc facing an overwhelming force, or even the sole survivor of a pirate attack, there’s always an edge - and it’s up to the merc to find and exploit it!

Edited by best-selling authors and universe creators Chris Kennedy and Mark Wandrey, Hope Is Not a Strategy includes all-new stories in the Four Horsemen universe by some of the best-selling indie authors currently in the business. These authors take on various aspects of the universe, giving you additional insight into a galaxy that isn’t at war...but definitely isn’t at peace. There’s only one thing for sure in the 4HU - anything’s possible...for a fistful of credits!

Another great collection of short stories

More short stories greatly expand the 4HU. The narrator does an incredible job bringing each character to life.

Another Win for the 4HU Tales Series!

As expected, this was another enjoyable & interesting collection of short stories from the 4HU (4 Horsemen Universe).

It's best appreciated if you've read all the books in the original main 4H (4 Horsemen) Series, as well as the ones preceding in this 4HUT series, but IMO, it can also be read as a standalone for a newbie to get a taste of the 4HU.

I think if you've read any books in the 4HU, you should be already hooked & want this book. If you haven't & stumble across this on sale, nab it. If you like military sci fi, specifically mercenaries centric stories, you'll love this Universe.

Read it to get a taste, then go back to the beginning of the 1st series & prepare to settle in for a treat. By the time you get to this point in the Series (plural) you should listen to it again as I believe you'll appreciate it even more.

The 4HU combines well done characters with a sense of humor threaded through action, suspense, intrigue, mecha, cool tech & aliens.

The Narrator is perfect for this universe & does an excellent job bringing this world to life.

Overall, the 4HU is 1 of my top 10 favorites in military sci fi Series that I've found since joining Audible some 8-10 years ago & after listening to hundreds & hundreds of books, both from my local library & from Audible.

SUMMARY: Great Series. Get it. Listen. Enjoy (& getet hooked if you aren't already). Period.
