Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. Story
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

A Great, Heartfelt Story! Great Audible Listen🎧
This is a well written, enjoyable story that captured my attention from start to end. The storylines and characters are interesting and well developed. Craig tells his Grandmother that he is engaged, so he finds himself in a bind when his Grandmother tells him she wants to meet her and to bring her when he comes for a visit. He asks his secretary, Karin, if she would pose as his fiancé for the weekend in exchange for $1000. Karin, the good person she is say yes, the money will come in handy for her roommate who is battling cancer. All goes well, she meets his grandmother, Hope, and the rest of the family and friends. But lines get crossed and feelings come in play. While there is great chemistry between Karin and Craig, he does not believe in relationships, a part of him is broken and he feels he is not worthy of love. This is a heartfelt story with drama, angst, some twists, some good friendships, love and yes, hope for the future. Kimber Jackson, thank you for this great story!
I listened to the Audible edition, Diana Lyon is a terrific narrator and voice performer. She brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for great listen🎧

Meh
Romance stories can be troublesome if the attraction is not real or believed. In this listen, we are to believe that the boss and his secretary (the author's word, not mine) had hidden desires for one another. Possible. They entered into an arrangement to be make-believe lovers for a weekend so the boss can fool his much-loved grandmother into thinking grandchildren were in the future. Okay. The secretary agrees to this for $1000. A sum she believed was substantial enough to help her friend with her medical bills. M-kay.
The secretary was initially insulted by her bosses proposal then engaging then fearful then well, the see-saw was pretty constant. The boss was initially happy about the ruse, then apprehensive, then turned on. More see-sawing.
This book was a chore to get through. I'm only glad there is no book two.

Great Read
Hope For the Future was a good quick read by Kimber Jackson. Karin has been offered a special assignment from her boss Craig. She can make $1000 ton pose as his fiancee. They wind up in the same room for the night and suddenly things start to change for them. Karin wants more but Craig wants to just be friends with benefits. I loved reading Karin and Craig's story.

Cute
An adorable story with a lot of deeper messages within. It's not the most original plot, but the writing is solid and the characters are relatable and the romance is well written. There is some sex but it is not particularly graphic. I enjoyed this as a cute afternoon listen.
I thought the narrator gave a great performance and was a good fit for this story and its characters.

Excelent
I received this book free in return for an honest review and it was well worth the listen. The narrorator did an excelent job of bringing the characters to life and the story did not drag on for no reason. I not only enjoyed the book but am bookmarking the author to keep tabs on other books released in the future.

Beautiful story of Hope
Craig Johnston needs a date for his friend’s baby shower so that his grandmother and friends will stop their matchmaking efforts. Who better to ask than his trusty secretary, Karin. He’ll even pay her! Karin agrees to go along with Craig’s plan so she can help her bff with medical bills, but she’s disappointed that Craig’s motivation is getting his grandparents money. However, the more that she sees Craig interact with his grandparents, Karin believes that her initial reaction is wrong. The pair recognize the chemistry between them but Craig is insistent that they retain the business arrangement. When a tornado hits the town, the pair become intimate...and Craig asks Karin to move in...’for as long as it lasts’! Karin is hurt and turns in her resignation. Will Craig come clean with his grandparents about his non-relationship with Karin? Will he really let Karin go? Is there an HEA for this pair? I love Craig’s relationship with his grandparents but he has insecurities in his past that may preclude him from an HEA. Good story that tackles the issue of teenage mothers and the struggle to find a support system.

Karin and Craig (Mr. Johnston)
Mr. Johnston has a proposition for Karin, his assistant. Mr. Johnston asked her to pose as his fiancée for a weekend so his grandmother and family would think he is planning to abandon his old ways and settle down into marriage. Karin accepts because she feels the $1,000 will help her best friend and roommate who is suffering from cancer. Eventually, things so south when Craig’s grandmother is rushed to the hospital and she knows something is off and Craig admits everything to her. This book had such a nice ending for both Karin and her best friend. It is a shame it took Craig so long to realize he deserved love.
Diana Lyon did a good job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

An office, fake fiancee story with a HEA. For the most part an enjoyable listen. The characters were likable especially Hope and Charlotte. I felt that Karen could have been stronger. Her self talk and communication skills were lacking a bit. The fact that Craig didn't think Karen needed to know more about him as a fiancee was just weird and unrealistic.
I liked the
Diana Lyons interpretation of the female voices but the constant grasping and guttural voices of the men got on my nerves.
