About this listen

Roy Holland and the crew of the Poseidon were tasked with bringing home the scientists aboard the unresponsive research vessel Athena II. But as the Poseidon approached the ship resting near the event horizon of black hole V616, they discovered something truly terrible.

Performance is great. Story is fairly middle of road. Lots of similarities to the Event Horizon movie but I don't mind more stories in the X investigates Black Hole or Rescue type stories.

I feel it could have been expanded on more and the sense of time could have been shown better for the reader to get a better sense of what they were experiencing.

Overall nothing terribly new, but good for a commute!

Not bad for short SciFi/Horror.

loved listening to this Novella, it feels like watching an audiobook of the film Event Horizon and The Shining mix Suspenseful, terrifying and satisfying the sci-fi horror hit. A must read.

Event Horizon meets The Shining.

A store with many curves from what happens to the crew to interrogation of the lone survivor.

What a space ride

A well written book. It keeps your interest throughout and has a solid plot. Well narrated and easy to listen to.

I enjoyed this one

It isn’t bad, but it’s not all that good, as a story. The performance is excellent, top-notch. The writing is far to Florida, and not infrequently a bit meandering and repetitive. I believe it would’ve been an all-around better story if it had been shorter. The ending is really rather pat, which was particularly disappointing.

It’s a story you’ve read/heard before.

The story had taken inspiration from Event Horizon, and not a copy of it. The story wasn't too long and I enjoyed it. The story is not scary, nor action packed but the performance of the narrator was good to listen to.

Not Event Horizon

I could almost hear something calling in the back of my mind as well. Big props to the performance from M. Mason for getting me fully immersed even while I was at work. Was compelled to finish the whole book in one session.

Haunting. Exciting.

pretty much just a rehash of Event Horizon. Hard to like any of the characters, very predictable from start to finish, except one pressing concern.... with all the flame throwing & body burning going on in a space craft, where is all the smoke going? Did I miss something?

Maybe this piece is an early writing effort to sort of redo Event Horizon with maybe enough changes to avoid lawsuits? Probably.

Unfortunately I recommend waving and passing by this piece.

mostly just a rehash of Event Horizon

Not bad, but honestly I found it to be a less atmospheric version of the movie event horizon. The premise was good but didn't manage to capture any creepiness. I will maybe check oit.kther stuff by author but was left a bit underwhelmed by this one. Still I think was worth the cost. The narration was good.

It was okay

Horribly done immitation of Event Horizon, but without any of the things that made that movie good. The poorly written characters aren't worth caring about, and have backstories consisting of one or two lines. This story is an insult to horror and is why the genre suffers more that it could ever deserve. Avoid at all costs.

Poorly written immitation of a cool 90's movie
