About this listen

Repairman Jack has been tearing up the urban adventure scene ever since he was introduced in the New York Times best seller, The Tomb. Jack has no last name, no social security number, and no qualms when it comes to getting the job done - even if it means putting himself in serious danger.

Hosts starts with a bang when Jack has to stop a psychotic's shooting rampage on a subway car - but there are witnesses, and Jack’s essential anonymity is threatened.

A good deal more is threatened when the lover of Jack’s sister Kate survives a brain tumor, thanks to an experimental treatment, only to join a strange cult called “the Unity”. Now Jack must face a new kind of enemy, a virally-based group mind that wants to take over him, and the world.

If you could sum up Hosts in three words, what would they be?

SuperDuperNatural must read

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, It was one of the better books. Not that the series is not all great, it is, but every now and then there is a must read and thsi is one of them

Which character – as performed by Christopher Price – was your favorite?

Jack and Gia. Mr Price has a true talent of using his voice to capture the charactors personality in full

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, they all do

Any additional comments?

Start with the quick read...The Last Rakosh. Even though it is short and sweet, it makes beginning the series that much better

Another great book. Loving the series re-read. Fascinating to see the laying of the groundwork.

Awesome

I love F Paul WIlson. I love Repairman Jack. I was read him initially when it was just "The Tomb". And I've read the subsequent novels as they've come out. I love that I can continue to enjoy them via audiobook. I love the entire Adversary cycle, which Repairman Jack is working towards.

Okay. So I've established that I love FPW's stories. Now...

I'm voicing my issue here (with Hosts), but it appears in all of the stories that have this narrator.

Here's my single (yes, it's just one) problem with Christopher Price doing the reading. He seems to do just fine with accents (New York accent, Russians, Abe's Jewish accent), and such. But -- for crying out loud -- why can't he pronounce "Julio" instead of "Oolio". It's awful, it's horrible, it detracts from an otherwise enjoyable narration. Can't he manage to sound out the hispanic "J"? It would be better even if he said "Hulio" which is much more accurate this Oolio business, which grates.

Okay. Rant done. Going back to the story.

Look...just put forth the effort to pronounce

The narrator has mastered the Repairman Jack series!! Keep them coming, and I will keep tuning in!

Another KnockOut

If I have to listen to him say Oolio one more time I’ll SCREAM! It’s JULIO you idiot! I love the Repairman Jack series, and have read the books, but decided to give the audiobooks a try. Jack:The Early Year - Cold City, Fear City etc. That guy could narrate a book, and I’d hope to hear him read the rest of the series, but nope, you had to go with this looser! I’m hoping they will decide to hire a new, and more experienced narrator to reread this series so I can truly enjoy it!

I hate this narrator!

I love the entire series. Especially great to see the dynamic relationship between Jack and his sister. F Paul Wilson operates on a different level, I love everything he's written down.

Great series

I've been devouring these books, and while I found this one a bit predictable, it kept me engaged with the story the whole time.

Predictable but easy to digest, enjoy!

This was an incredible story to add to Jacks adventure. For me it's 2024 in America which made this story eextremely scary

Excellent
