About this listen

Stone Barrington is back in the exciting new adventure from perennial fan favorite Stuart Woods.

It’s not often that Stone Barrington finds a woman as accustomed to the jet-set lifestyle as he, so he’s pleasantly surprised when he meets a gorgeous pilot who’s soon moving to New York, and available for closer acquaintance. Their travels together lead them from Wichita to Europe, but trailing them is some unwanted baggage: His new lady love’s unstable, criminal ex-boyfriend. And while Stone is fending off his newest adversary, trouble is brewing on the international stage. Several enemy operatives are at large, and only a coordinated intelligence effort will have any chance of stopping their deadly plot. But the clock is ticking...and time has nearly run out.

So, I loved Chiefs by Stuart Woods. I know the guy can write. I think he might have called it in on this one. It took it awhile to get going and there were two plots that I kept expecting to come together. Spoiler alert: They don't. Stone Barrington struck me as a lecherous and a little pompous old man. He could have been written completely out of the story and it wouldn't have made much difference. Millie was a good character. Perhaps he should base a series on her. Bottom line is that it wasn't awful, but I wish I hadn't used a credit on it.

Okay, I guess, but disappointing

I feel like Mr. Woods us doing some estate planning trying to produce as many books as possible each year. I enjoy them, but any two or three of them could be combined into one book at this point.

Short book, but enjoyable

very well written and kept ones interest until the end, and the story was well thought out with every one having a part to play at the conclusion

very good book

Not terrible. Stone is getting old, his life isn't as exciting so it was a little slow. Still a fan

Wow. Sure is getting interesting with all the international intrigue. Listening to one book after another makes me feel like I am living within their lives. Better than television. Your mind creates the images. So great

I didn't enjoy the Plot/Story of this one too much, didn't keep me gripped in the story and wanting to not stop listening like other Stone Barrington Stories have.

Not My Favorite... But Not Horrible

Lots and lots of uninteresting detail about Stone's new plane. Who cares? He jumps in and out of bed with any and all available women as usual. At least he spared us the graphic details this time. Of course they all find him irresistible and they are all drop dead gorgeous. Not much of a story, more about what exotic locations he travels to and what culinary delights he enjoys in what famous restaurants. Save your credit.

Disappointing and boring.

Stuart Woods continues to crank out one good read after another featuring Stone Barrington. Most enjoyable!

Another enjoyable read

Too much Dover sole! I don’t get it. But could’ve been a lot more interesting with less aviation information.

Just ok
