Critic reviews

"Woods and Hall have crafted a fast-moving tale with a light touch....Crime fiction doesn’t get much more entertaining than this.” (Booklist, starred review)

“Herbie manages to stumble his way to the exciting, satisfying climax. The courtroom scenes are convincing, and a host of inept crooks will resonate with fans of Donald Westlake’s caper novels.” (Publishers Weekly)

VERY good

VERY good. More believable action than the previous ones with all the bombs, etc.

Very entertaining!

Finally Herbbie Fisher gets his own book. H
aving followed his character development through many of Stone Barringtons books, it was fun to hear a very well developed story with all the twists and turns ending in a very satisfying ending.

love 2 read

it started out slow and dragging, but picked up in the end. I enjoyed the part where the main character doesn't get the girl. that was a nice twist.

Couldn't finish it. EDIT! FINISHED IT!

Sorry, I love Stuart Woods cast of characters and no one can bring Stone Barrington and crew to life better than Tony Roberts but Herbie as the main character, just didn't work for me. Woods and Hall did great with their previous collaboration with Teddy Fey but this one just didn't do it for me at all. Maybe if my mood is in a different place, I might get back to it, maybe not.
EDIT
It was ok, it still isn't his best.

Fun, fun, fun!

I liked this better than the Stone Barrington books. This was funnier although borderline ridiculous. I enjoyed every minute. Usually Tony Roberts gets on my nerves as Stone but I thoroughly enjoyed him in this one. Bring me more!

Herbie, Herbie, Herbie

I have never liked Herbie enough to think he warrants his own book series, but here is the start. This story is like a 6 ring circus, a couple too many overlapping plots, but it is entertaining. For my money, for Stone and Dino, but I will continue to listen to everything Woods writes.

Loved it!

This was a great story, Herbie is following in Stone's footsteps. Tony Roberts did an awesome job again. I could listen to him read the phone book! Especially all of the folks from Brooklyn.

Barely Legal Is a Lot of Fun

One of my favorite Stuart Woods books. Whereas the Stone Barrington character is a super human being with young women falling over him and an endless supply of money, Herbie Fisher is human, fallible, and funny. The scrapes Herbie gets himself into are logical as they strain credulity. In other words fun, escapism fiction. Give me more Herbie but keep Stone and Dino as his secondary characters.
