About this listen

A passenger jet is attacked in Northern Africa by terrorists wielding RPGs, resulting in an enormous loss of life. Yet US intelligence reports this is merely a distraction, a prelude to a worse terror incident.

A cargo ship is pirated off the African coast, and terrorists are puzzled to find in its vast hold just one mysterious crate. It contains a weapon they do not understand - one of vital interest to al Qaeda. It is a weapon, we learn, that will inflict catastrophic damage on the US if not stopped in time.

The weapon disappears deep into the heart of Africa, and as all hope seems lost to retrieve it, Luke Stone is summoned. Forced to cross deserts, to enter jungles, Luke and his team embark on a mad race across Africa, on a suicidal mission: to destroy the weapon before it is too late.

A political thriller with nonstop action, dramatic international settings, and heart-pounding suspense, House Divided is the seventh installment in the best-selling and critically acclaimed Luke Stone series, an explosive new series that will leave you listening late into the night.

Critic reviews

"Thriller writing at its best. Thriller enthusiasts who relish the precise execution of an international thriller, but who seek the psychological depth and believability of a protagonist who simultaneously fields professional and personal life challenges, will find this a gripping story that’s hard to put down.” (Midwest Book Review)

Good Like All other books

This is now the seventh book that I have read by Jack Mars. His character Luke Stone might be as good as any out there right now. Enjoyable with a sense of humor and great action. Felt like the story was really tight.

Just Awesome!

Good story/crsis and better family side story with his son and Susan. Loved the inner and more physical Ed. Keep Dunn! Bring him back to offset the goody twoshoes. Nice dose of near reality.

The final book of the series didn’t drop the intensity, story telling and presented a realistic problem. I really enjoyed listening to the story and it’s funny when it evokes emotion. When Ed was working to turn off the device I was gritting my teeth! My consistent critique for Mr Carr, you need to get briefed on tactical operations and weapons.... What the heck is a “M15?” Keep up the good work and I hope Luke Stone and the SRT return.

The Finally Chapter

This book keeps the reader on the edge of a 100 foot high wave of tsunami power.

I Love the Lule Stone series of books...

I already noted in reviewing a previous book that the reader can't pronounce nuclear without adding a syllable that doesn't exist. I mentioned other mispronunciations and malapropisms without giving examples.

So, he didn't disappoint. Early in this one he is already demonstrating his lack of literacy. The Vice President is "bespeckled," Kelly "reads."

I have to believe the author wrote "bespectacled." Somehow, envisioning the VP with a case of measles didn't seem odd to Kelly given that there was no other mention of the cause of the speckles.

Two other more serious issues. Mars seems to think that all generals are misogynistic fascists--either incompetent disrespectful jerks or scheming for a coup. As a former active duty USMC officer, my observation is that you don't get to be a general in today's military without better manners than that.

Finally, I get that it's trendy to have a female president with a gay husband who cheats on her with other men so she doesn't have to feel guilty about cheating on him with her pet war criminal fixer. But isn't that jumping the shark a bit on the whole Brave New World agenda?

Finished the book. The story guy better so I added a star. The Veep is still bespeckled I instead of bespectacled at the end. So points off for reader ignorance.

Kelly still can't read
