About this listen

I want to watch you burn.

Consumed by hate, I've done the unthinkable. And it's turned me into a hero. Now, I must decide how far I'll go to keep my secret safe.

I won't let you know the truth.

But the sounds that echo in my head...are only growing louder.

Attempted murder gives a man his family back. It's everything he's ever wanted, but he can't forget what he did. And the longer he holds the secret, the more control he loses to the darkness whispering in his ear. It craves violence and can't be silenced forever. The line between truth and lies is disappearing. And with it, the difference between right and wrong.

Warning: Strong adult language and graphic violence.

A very strange story but it had me from the beginning! What would you do to keep your family???? Michael Robbins did a great job with the narration. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Too much bad language for me to enjoy the story. Not my cup of tea.

Michael Robbins does a good job at narrating.

Lots of tension

This book is twisted and creepy involving an insane man (I don’t think his name was mentioned) who attempted to kill his family the saves them and becomes hero to Aza his 8yr old (who is more like a teenager) and wife Joy. At times confusing especially with Ty as male at the golf course and apt think he is having affair with Joy, and then is a female that he is having affair with. But the ending was not expected. This book was a serious mind fuck and I loved everything about it. Couldn’t stop till it was over. I had to know how it ended. The narration really helped the story come alive. Loved it.

That was one hell of a roller coaster ride that I found impossible to put down before the end! An unemployed father and husband falls deeper and deeper into a spiral of confusion and terror as the line between fantasy and reality becomes blurred. This book features distinct and interesting characters that draw the listener into the story right away.

The narration by Michael Robbins was truly fantastic and this book includes some select sound effects that made the story come alive. The best part by far was the delicious mystery aspect to this tale. I find much of the content in this genre to be fairly cliched and predictable but this one kept surprising me up until the literal last second. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a thriller/mystery! 10/10!

A really good book. Chaotic but good! So interesting to dive into the mental mess and watch as things twist around the characters. Had me hooked from beginning to end.

This story would make a great movie if done right. I won't give away spoilers, but I did not see the two plot twist coming.

I will admit that it took me a few chapters to get into it, but once I did I was hooked. I really like the main characters, especially the daughter.

The narrator was good and the odd sound effects (weird at first) actually added to the insanity of the story.

Thumbs up!

What an outstanding book! There were several moments where I was so engulfed into the story I found myself cheering for the characters to finally make up with each other. Until I think everything is okay it pulls a 180. Then it was until the end, is what had me stunned.

The performance was fantastic. Really well done voices and I seriously loved the effects used occasionally. I highly recommend this audible.

This is the first book by Michael Sanford I've experienced and I must say I am quite impressed. The book's tagline reads: "Betrayal. Redemption. And a decent into madness." Decent into madness indeed! Sanford does a terrific job of letting us experience the main character's slip into madness. In a way it reminded me of some of Edgar Allen Poe's work, those wonderful stories where you aren't at all sure you can trust the narrator. At first it's quite subtle but by the time you reach the end you really are knee deep in the main character's head, practically drowning in his insanity. It is dark and disturbing in all the right ways. I'll definitely be checking out more of his work in the future.
