About this listen

What does it mean to be saved?

Some people think that salvation is merely about meeting the minimal entrance requirements needed to get into heaven when they die. But that’s not how Jesus talked about it. Rightly understood, salvation is an invitation to know God and to experience his presence, favor, and power starting right here on earth.

In How Do I Know If I’m Really Saved, best-selling author John Ortberg dispels the myth that eternal life is something we can only hope to experience after we die; recaptures the New Testament definition of salvation, eternal life, and the Good News of the Gospel; and explains what it really means to be a disciple.

So what does it mean to be saved? Let’s find out!

When well written, certain subject matters are more effectively communicated when applying the principle that sometimes less is more. This is a perfect example.

Clear, comprehensive, concise.

If you are struggling with assurance of your salvation, this may not be the answer you are looking for. I love John Ortberg as an author and he always makes me think. He also usually makes me laugh as well. This book offers excellent contrasts between “easy believe-ism” and true Christianity, But I would guess that most people won’t walk away from this work knowing more clearly whether they truly are saved or not.
