Just as I Am is my truth. It is me, plain and unvarnished, with the glitter and garland set aside. Here, I am indeed Cicely, the actress who has been blessed to grace the stage and screen for six decades. Yet I am also the church girl who once rarely spoke a word. I am the teenager who sought solace in the verses of the old hymn for which this book is named. I am a daughter and mother, a sister, and a friend. I am an observer of human nature and the dreamer of audacious dreams.

Growing up in the 1960s in the suburbs of Chicago, Meg Kissinger’s family seemed to live a charmed life. With eight kids and two loving parents, the Kissingers radiated a warm, boisterous energy. Whether they were spending summer days on the shores of Lake Michigan, barreling down the ski slopes, or navigating the trials of their Catholic school, the Kissingers always knew how to live large and play hard. Where the Light Fell is a gripping family narrative set against a turbulent time in post-World War II America, shaped by the collision of Southern fundamentalism with the mounting pressures of the civil rights movement and '60s-era forces of social change. In piecing together his fragmented personal history and his search for redemption, Yancey gives testament to the enduring power of our hunger for truth and the possibility of faith rooted in grace instead of fear.

Never Stop Believing, Never Stop Dreaming
Very inspiring read! Regardless of the cards life dealt you persevered! To have suffered so many losses, I can’t even comprehend! You evoked emotion speaking of your mothers passing. Peace, blessings & literary success to you!

A Sentimental Memoir
In How Far is a Mighty Long Way the author takes us on a personal journey of her life in a thoughtful, colorful, creative way. Guided her strong faith, she perseveres through multiple challenges and celebrated many victories as well. I enjoyed listening to the author's performance as well as her takeaways after each chapter.
