Publisher's summary

She was the weakness he could not afford, and the temptation he could not deny.

Highland warrior Cameron MacLeod's mission for the king has just gone dangerously awry, and the best chance he has of saving it is the fair-haired beauty he encounters during the ambush. Injured during the battle, the enchantress has lost her memory, but Cameron harbors one of her. Long ago, a seer foretold that this woman had the power to destroy him. He's confident he's not so weak as to succumb to her charms, but the mysterious woman soon proves herself brave, guileless, and after one foolish, searing kiss, impossible to resist.

When Sorcha Stewart awakes in a strange place, the only person she has any memory of is the handsome highlander in front of her; and even that memory is hazy. Still, she instantly feels drawn to and protected by Cameron, and he proves her instinct correct with his willingness to endanger himself to defend her. Soon, love ensnares her, and when Sorcha finally recalls her history, she learns she's irrevocably tied to the very enemies the Scot has been hunting.

Now that the seer's foretelling is coming true, it's putting Cameron in grave danger. With little time and their futures hanging in the balance, Cameron will have to swallow his pride and seek the help of his renowned brothers, whom he's spent his life striving to be considered equal to, or risk losing Sorcha forever. As for Sorcha, she'll have to break ties with her past to hold on to the wondrous love she's discovered.

Surrender Complete!

This is the story of the youngest MacCleod brother, Colin. His family members from previous books are an integral part of the story.
Colin doesn't understand his brothers' devotion to their wives. Spoiler Alert: Stop here if you haven't read this book.
Colin meets Sorcha and hears from a seer that their lives will be intertwined, but the seer tells him it's not yet their time. For years, Colin devotes himself to becoming a fierce warrior with steel discipline. He meets Sorcha again while on a mission for King David. She's hurt and is taken to the MacCleod's castle. She's lost her memory but feels she knows Colin. She and Colin try to resist their chemistry, but through danger and triumph succumb to their fate and their love.
I didn't like Sorcha as much as Marion, Bridget, and Isabelle. Although Sorcha was skilled and supposedly brave, she struck me as naive and whiny. She "had a big heart" but it seemed to me she was more of a martyr. She didn't seem to have the spine and grit of the other MacCleod wives.
I listened to this story without reading it. While the narrator voiced the characters well, I found it difficult to listen to for an extended period of time. At times, the narrator's accent was so thick, I had to rewind several times to understand the words. I know that the accent was authentic, but knowing didn't make understanding easier. Heaven help you, if you don't know the word, "ken".
This was an engaging well written book and I recommend it with a nice cup of tea.

Great story and characters!

I do love Ms Johnstone's Heroines as they are always smart, honest and can stand on their own when they need to. I was excited to read Cameron's story and was not disappointed. Dinner was late tonight because I wanted to listen to the ending without interruption. (: Plot and character descriptions are covered in the summary so I will just say that I thoroughly enjoyed the story and recommend it to anyone who loves historical romances, especially Scottish ones!

Tim Campbell is one of my favorite narrators, always bringing life to the story. I had a hard time, at first, understanding what he was saying when he used a deep, heavy accent so spent time going back to listen again a few times until I adjusted to the accent and enjoyed the rest of the story.

I have read or listened to each book in this series and enjoyed them all so am looking forward to number 6!

Absolutely LOVED IT!

I ADORE this installment in the series, as it's very much like the first, based almost entirely on honesty from beginning to end, which always enhances a love story. Loved the sassy quips and the passion these two have. They're truly inspiring characters that grow as they become the symbols of love, honor and family as they have so strongly tried to be. Love the narrator!

Captivating

If you could sum up How a Scot Surrenders to a Lady in three words, what would they be?

In three words this story is dramatic, romantic, and captivating.

What other book might you compare How a Scot Surrenders to a Lady to and why?

How can one compare books that are part of a genre? Yes, there are plenty of sexy Scottish Highlanders in the book world, most of them heroes, but each of them has their own character, their own loves, their own story. You just shouldn't even try to compare.

What does Tim Campbell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Tim brings emotion to the story moreso than if you were just reading it yourself. From the passionate scenes where his voice is full of lust to the scenes where he is the full-on hero who will do anything to keep his woman. His narration of the female voices are for the most part very good, but a man with such a deep gravelly voice as Tim is never going to get the female voices absolutely spot on. It certainly didn't detract from the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I wouldn't say I had an extreme reaction to the book, but it did capture my attention and I could feel for the characters. I did smile a lot, but I didn't cry.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this story, and Tim did a good job of narrating it.

Fabulous!

This was a wonderful tale of intrigue, passion, adventure, and love. Sorcha was adorable who is both brave and strong. Cameron is a sexy and strong Scot. Together, they can’t deny their attraction or passion for one another. Only, the predictions of the seer weigh heavy on their minds and influence their decisions.
I loved the narration of this book. Tim Campbell brings the story to life and gives each character their own voice. I was totally lost in the story as a listened to the book.

Surrender to Passion in the Highlands!

Long ago a seer told Cameron MacLeod that a woman would be his undoing. She would come to him during a battle, bathed in blood... eventually he would sacrifice everything for her. His family, his honor, even his loyalty to the crown.
Cameron does everything in his power to prove that he's worthy of the MacLeod name, like his older brothers before him, but he's constantly haunted by the memory of his father... "Unworthy ye are, lad." Now the youngest MacLeod brother has been charged with a most important duty to the crown... but things do not go as expected, and during this time he meets the woman that was prophecied many years ago.
When Sorcha Stewart awakes in a strange place, she has no memory of how she came to be there... or why she was in the same woods where an ambush took place on the king's mistress. The only memories that she has are those of Cameron. Meeting him years earlier in a dagger throwing contest, where she bested him and then ran back home. Though they never had a formal introduction the meeting was memorable for members of both parties.
Will the seer's prophecy come true? Will Cameron deny these feelings all for duty to the crown? Will Sorcha remember her history, and when she does will she be friend or foe? All will be answered in the fifth installment of Julie Johnstone's epic story, "How a Scot Surrenders to a Lady".
