About this listen

Though they have the vote and the Pill and haven't been burned as witches since 1727, life isn't exactly a stroll down the catwalk for modern women. They are beset by uncertainties and questions: Why are they supposed to get Brazilians? Why do bras hurt? Why the incessant talk about babies? And do men secretly hate them?

Caitlin Moran interweaves provocative observations on women's lives with laugh-out-loud funny scenes from her own, from the riot of adolescence to her development as a writer, wife, and mother. With rapier wit, Moran slices right to the truth - whether it's about the workplace, strip clubs, love, fat, abortion, popular entertainment, or children - to jump-start a new conversation about feminism. With humor, insight, and verve, How To Be a Woman lays bare the reasons why female rights and empowerment are essential issues not only for women today but also for society itself.

Listend twice I loved so much

This is a must read for every woman out there. I think it would help many a girl to relax and not take them selves so seriously.

Caitlin lays it on the line just how crazy the world has become and what we woman do to try and fit in as normal.

I have already listened to this book twice since I got it in January and I am sure will pull it out every couple of years to listen again to help remind me that I don't have to fit into what the world calls norm to be a women. I am a woman 100% no matter how little or how much effort I put into my appearance and if others don't like it then who cares.

Laugh out loud funny and provocative writing

I loved it. I am annoyed none of my friends told me to listen to it sooner. Moran is the mentor or girlfriend you wish you had, not to mention the type of writer one should aspire to become.

Yes!

Upon turning 30 o found this book on a list to read before turning 30. I think it was the perfect age for me, I don't think I would have connected to as much of it as I have. The author reading the book made it that much more memorable! I will read it over and over!

Man! You feel like a woman.

Women empowerment! Women shouldn't be stereotyped but allowed to blossom as unique and individualist. Moran does a good job in representing and promoting and being a feminist.

A Fantastic Modern Feminist Perspective

Way too relate-able. Great new perspective on things that I had never thought about. The reader's accent made it a little difficult to understand sometimes, and sometimes it was just downright annoying. But the content is fantastic.

A real honest, inspiring outlook on the world!

I think this book was just perfect, especially being a woman quickly approaching my 30's I could laugh right along with the author as she read of her inner most fears, the expectations the modern world has placed on her, and laugh about all the horrible stereotypes and sexist cultural norms there are for women! The character in the authors voice As she read on was mesmerizing and I encourage every person who gives a damn about women to read this book, or listen to the author read it to you!

Loved it!

Absolutely loved it! An honest look at what it means to be a woman in today's society. Even if you don't agree with her on everything it's an interesting perspective that makes you re-evaluate how you look at yourself and other women.
