Publisher's summary

The COVID-19 pandemic isn’t over. But even as governments around the world try to get it under control, they’re also starting to talk about what happens next. How can we prevent another pandemic from killing millions of people and devastating the global economy?

Can we even hope to accomplish this? Bill Gates believes the answer is yes, and he has written a largely upbeat book that lays out clearly and convincingly what the world should learn from COVID-19, explains the science of fighting pandemics, and suggests what all of us can do to help prevent another one.

Excellent and Practical

Like the helpful review of what went right and wrong as we dealt with Covid, and who needs to do what when and where to protect us from pandemics going forward. Sorry to say the challenges are huge, though not as huge as challenges in dealing with climate change. Thankfully BG quantifies as he goes along, like $20 billion spent to get Covid vaccines developed, $1 billion a year to staff GERM for WHO level responses to outbreaks, and $40 billion a year to get global healthcare up to BG standards. All quite affordable compared to defense budgets and costs of pandemics. Hope the book gets things done.

What an enlightening book.

This was a great book to read. The reader’s audio inflections were awesome. From the prologue through the end, it was a very informative piece of work.

How to Prevent the Next Pandemic

The last two books that I read by Bill Gates, certify me that he is my favorite author who clearly shows the path to short-term global issues solutions.
What is best regarding his books is that they are based on scientific data and already tested outcomes.
Wonderful reading.

Narration is overly enthusiastic.

It's good information, but it seems that the narrator is almost yelling at the listener.

excellent in-depth review of pandemics

I found this book to be highly educational. I believe Gates gives a fair and extremely well-versed overview of both the current and potential pandemics.

The style made the listening easy whereas normally such a technical subject is boring. This was engaging.

Although the book was predominantly read by a professional narrator, I actually prefer Bill's voice. the narrator was excellent but I find Bill's voice to be warmer and more genuine sounding.

Well done!!!
