Publisher's summary

Do any of these sound familiar?

You want to write your first novel, but you don't know how to begin.

You've started writing several novels, but you never finish them.

You've written a novel or two, but you want to increase your output and publish more often.

If you answered yes to any of the above, this audiobook might just be what you're looking for!

I'm Simon Haynes, and I've been writing and publishing novels and short fiction for almost 20 years. This guide contains everything I've learned about writing a novel, both as an indie and as a trade-published author.

Maybe you want to write a novel which has been on your mind for years. You don't care how long it takes, you just want to see it through to the end.

Or maybe you see yourself as a career novelist - there's a real challenge - and you want to write books quickly and efficiently.

I've done both, and I cover both approaches in How to Write a Novel.

Review This was quite informative and not only ways to help write a novel more efficiently, but also great hints on how to use yWriter better.

It is fun to hear Simon Hayes's voice. After reading a lot of his Hal Spacejock stories and enjoying them to the max, it is fun to hear the rhythm of how he speaks matches the cadence of his fiction.

I have written quite a few novels myself, mostly for NaNoWriMo (17?) so I highly recommend Simon's methods to write. I am learning some things from this book, that I wish I could have had in my writing wheelhouse all along. It is a very helpful book.

I plan to buy the Kindle and perhaps paper version too so I can refer back to the books often. I highly recommend this book!

Clear, concise, fun and invaluable

I have read more than a dozen books on writing--all of which contained good advice. But none have summarized it as well as he has done here. I have struggled with my books and continue to refine my processes over the years using the other guides which can be unwieldy and rough to master without killing your will to write. This book validates the core ideas but GREATLY simplifies the process. I wish I had this a decade ago. I highly recommend this to the novice writer as the must start here book and to battle weary veterans that still want to write despite the pile of maimed not good enough books littering their hard drives as begging for freedom.

Provides a Motivating Process

I am a good writer, but I have been held back by the simple fact that I have not written a novel. Simon provides a flexible and adaptable approach to the process of writing a novel and great tips for avoiding becoming bogged down by writer’s block and endless rewrites. I have yet to finish my first novel, but I have now completed a clear and attainable plan to do so in the next two months.
