Publisher's summary

When I finally get a life-saving kidney transplant, I think the worst is behind me. Boy, am I wrong.

I start feeling eyes on me wherever I go. I'm being watched. Stalked. Hunted. It's downright scary.

Then, the hunter steps out of the shadows, and my life implodes.

I'm taken by Renzo Torrisi, a dangerous and unforgiving man.

Turns out the kidney I received belonged to one of his men, and I have to repay the debt. Only the terms are unclear, and the rules change on a whim.

Held prisoner in his penthouse, I have to serve the ruthless mafia boss like the god he is.

Whether I'll survive being Renzo's captive is up for debate, though.

From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Michelle Heard comes a new standalone, full-length mafia romance. Intended for mature listeners.

Shared grief bears love

I loved how controlling and really hot Renzo is and I love how he eventually isn’t afraid to love Skylar

Another amazing book

I’ve yet to get a book from this author I haven’t listened to at least 6 times. Romance 10 stars, story 10 stars! This had my allergies acting up multiple times. I can’t wait for the other books to come out and am secretly hoping this twist into the priesthood. Performances were wonderful too.

Loved this so much

I cried thru the entire book when I read it but it was soooo good when I listened to it. It’s an amazing story with great performers. They did a wonderful job bringing Renzo and Skylar to life.

Very interesting love story

This was a unique one for me. Renzo (think that is how it’s spelled) was in so much pain that I wasn’t sure where it was going for a bit there but then the evolution of the story all came together for me. Loved it.

Hunted By A Shadow

This was such a hard book for me. I think the couple who narrated it did a really good job. They were able to show the emotions for both couples.

Interesting 'Meet Cute'.....lol

Michelle Heard gets extra points for this original plot and although we know black market organs are sold probably more than the average person knows I am not sold that this would have happened to a member of the Sicilian Mafia - especially someone as high up as Julian. I am fairly certain great pains would have been taken to make sure that Julian is a person who could disappear with no questions asked...so usually it is the less connected; more 'poor folk' that these guys search for. So as always with these types of books when you suspend disbelief they are enjoyable. Both Macie Miller and James Anderson Foster had stellar performances in this slow burn, low spice title. Have your tissues ready, witnessing the grief and sorrow that Skylar and Renzo go through made me feel raw. The last scene with Skylar's father wrecked me. But of course there is forgiveness and healing by the end so we have our HEA.

3.5 starz - worthy of a repeat listen, but I won't listen again

Wasn’t feeling it

I don’t mind dark romance at all, but this was a tough one for me to get through because the relationship did not feel genuine at all. The fact that he verbally abused her, physically intimidated her, even hauled her up by her throat at one point was just kind of forgotten about in the plot of them forming a relationship. It just wasn’t believable that he fell in love with her the way he did and especially not believable that she fell in love with him, her psychological abuser and captor. The premise was interesting and unique to a lot of the dark romance books I’ve read but a lot of the way things were handled gave me the ick.
