Publisher's summary

Something old, something new, something borrowed...something blacker than the darkest night.

Cosmo Saville adores his new husband, but his little white lies and some very black magic are about to bring their fairy tale romance to an end. Someone is killing San Francisco's spell casters, and the only person Cosmo can turn to - the man who so recently swore to love and cherish him - isn't taking his phone calls.

The only magic police commissioner John Joseph Galbraith believes in is true love. Discovering he’s married to a witch - one with something alarmingly like magical powers - is nearly as bad as discovering the man he loved tricked and deceived him.

John shoulders the pain of betrayal and packs his bags. But when he learns Cosmo is in the crosshairs of a mysterious and murderous plot, he knows he must do everything in in his mortal power to protect him.

Till death do them part. With their relationship on the rocks, Cosmo and Galbraith join forces to uncover the shadowy figure behind the deadly conspiracy.

Can the star-crossed couple bring down a killer before the dark threat extinguishes love’s flame?

I Buried a Witch is the second book in the smart and sexy Bedknobs and Broomsticks romantic gay mystery trilogy. If you like endearing characters, spell-binding conflict, and spooky, good fun, then you’ll love Josh Lanyon’s tale of a modern white knight and his slightly wicked witch.

Something Different

I’ve enjoyed Josh Lanyon’s writing for quite some time. He ranks at the top of my favorite LGBT authors; but, somehow Kale Williams had not come to my attention. Kale’s voice acting is among the very best. I’ll be looking for more from both men.

“I Buried a Witch” is the second in the Bedknobs and Broomsticks series. I typically don’t listen beyond the first book in a series, but this is an exception. Many MM stories are 50% plot and 50% sex. Ok... sometimes that’s fun, but sometimes I’d like more story and character development. This series is just that. A fun and well developed story about the lives of two men who love each other. Some sex, yes. But, mostly a good story that moves at a very nice pace.

If you like a little magic, I think that you’re bound to really enjoy this book, and this series. And now, I’m off to listen to book 3!

Enthralling...

First, I adore Josh Lanyon's writing and this series is no different. As is the case in much of life, there is a however. I really enjoy Cosmo's character and I really do not like John's. I am trying to follow along and adopt their love story intermixed with the craft and such, but through much of this book I wanted to just slap the fool out of both of them...Cosmo for being a door mat and John for being such a douche. Sounds harsh I know and the sad truth is that their relationship, based on the dynamics of it, is expectable. That doesn't mean that I have to like it ;-). With all that said, I am still enthralled with the premise of this story and I cannot wait for the next one to be available and see where this interesting couple goes from here.

addictive

I'm not usually a fan of supernatural m/m romance, but I love this series. Josh Lanyon's writing is flawless, and Cosmo Saville is my new favorite main character.

Great story. Great narration.

Like all of Josh Lanyon's book series, this one has over reaching story arcs and some interesting character development. The readers are starting to get to know John, and some of his less than charming traits are showing. I always appreciate authors who aren't afraid to let theirs characters grow. Cosmo is going to need to be as tough as John tries to be if they are going to be able to keep their relationship intact.

The mystery from the previous book has some unexpected consequences in this one, and I like how the first book flowed into this one.

Once again, I jumped into the next book immediately after I finished this one.

entertaining second instalment

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes

Story comment: good second instalment, easy listen, characters are likeable and there is still enough going on to keep me interested.

Narrator comment: I enjoyed Kale William's narration and think he's done a good job narrating I Buried a Witch. I don't speak the multiple languages he's had to do, but the accents all sounded believable, I had no problem distinguishing characters and the rhythm, inflections and intonations all worked to bring the book to life.

I look forward to the next instalment.

I can't wait for the next one!

This is such a fun series. I was so pissed off at the first book not tying up anything and leaving me hanging, but the second book of the series had some super satisfying moments that made up for it and then some. I'm so looking forward to the third book in the series. There is nothing else quite like these books out there, and it's really fun to be in this world of magic. Josh Lanyon has written some of my favorite magic fantasy mm books and always makes them super original, gets me emotionally involved, and has a very sophisticated writing style. The love interests are always a bit hard edged but it makes them pretty sexy. The mc of this story is very interesting and a different sort of character than I've read about before. He's intelligent and resourceful and kind and capable. He doesn't always make the choices I would make, but it's always clear why he makes his choices. He's much more sympathetic than the love interest so far, who seems super hot, dark, tall , muscular, handsome, badass and scary, but not all that loving or capable of empathy, appreciating anyone who's different, etc. We know that he's damaged from a past in the military, and that somehow he does seem to love the mc, so I hope we'll get insight into his heart sometime too and see that he actually likes the mc as well as loves him, and I can't wait for a moment when they might both be on the same team so to speak, and work together and for him to appreciate the mc and regard him as an equal. He started off viewing him in a condescending way as some sort of nutjob who was endearingly cute, but then switches to being disgusted and almost scared of him, so we'll see what the next transition is.
