About this listen

I Killed Pink Floyd's Pig is an all-access behind-the-scenes VIP tour of when rock was great, courtesy of Beau Phillips, a respected radio programmer and former head of marketing at MTV.

Phillips was an insider and occasional accomplice who witnessed the legends of classic rock in their heyday and takes listeners inside the dressing rooms, hotel suites, and private planes of Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, and dozens more to enjoy funny, decadent, and never-been-told stories of sex, drugs, and rock and roll.

The book's foreword was written by Sammy Hagar, former lead singer for Van Halen. He and Phillips met in the late 1970s, early in Hagar's career. Sammy wrote, "Beau has seen all of the rock and roll craziness - and his book is loaded with amazing stories."

Memory lane.

Growing up during the explosion of FM radio, this book welled up so many memories of forgotten concerts, friends and party’s. If you didn’t lived it, there’s no way you would fully understand the rock stations competing for listeners.

This book is fun!!

I’d say this is like a 7/10. Very entertaining. The narrator is great, but a couple of the stories fell flat. But I highly recommend this title. Give it a listen!

A Music Lover's Must Read

As a teenager in the 80's, I couldn't have asked for a better collection of stories from the best music era. I even cried through a couple of chapters.

Fun revisit to a different time on radio

Lots of behind the scenes stuff I’d never known about mixed in with stuff out there in other formats. Some errors - Robert Plants first album was NOT Shaken ‘n Stirred - it was Pictures at Eleven and Artimus Pyle is not deceased. Otherwise it was very enjoyable and humorous.

Good stories

Good stories and some insightful look at the Rock radio stations lives.

Only real negative. Chapter 34. Lynard Skynard. Artemis Pyle is NOT dead as told by Beau. Come on.

Worth a read

Fun and interesting stories

This book kept my attention unlike some of the other rock and roll story books out there. Interesting and funny stories that are narrated well. I recommend.
