About this listen

When you put the past behind you, but the past won’t leave you behind....

Laura and Jack Harrington are the archetypal career couple. Good-looking and hard-working with a great life outside working hours. They live in a trendy flat and look forward to starting a family. But Laura is still haunted by her "dark days" - memories of being bullied by a girl at school. She is finding it hard to conceive and fears this is the result of the illness that followed her traumatic experience as a teenager.

As Laura fights to deal with her emotions, Jack throws himself into his work, having just landed himself a new job. When his new personal assistant arrives, he is relieved to find HR have found someone just as efficient as his previous one.

He has no idea how much effort she had gone to, to become Jack Harrington’s PA, who she really is, and what she has planned....

This tale of human weakness and revenge is an edge-of-your-seat story and will have listeners addicted right to the end.

The story was good, but the recording had a glitch causing it to repeat phrases/sentences on numerous occasions. A bit distracting.

Weird repeating

Loved it! The story line was engaging. The characters well developed. Reader was perfect. I couldn’t wait to get to the end only because I was into it...I wanted to know how it would end!

Liked the book, hated the production. There were so many repeats of the same audio that I lost count.

The story was really great once I got into it! The narrator could have been better. The two main characters were both female and it was hard for me to know who was speaking and when because the narrator never really changed her voice to differentiate them. The recording also had several times where the narrator would say a line, pause, then say the same line over again. Over all like I said the story was great and very interesting!

I certainly hope this author gives us more of the same. It was never boring or dragged out. I even stayed up late listening. I highly recommend.

Great book!!!!

I enjoyed this story well enough. At least it didn't seem to have come from a template like so much of today's contemporary fiction. And I didn't know how it would end, which is unusual.

I'd recommend this title to those who can like a story without liking the protagonists. I enjoy books with unlikable characters, but I know some people do not. There really are no good guys in this story.

struggled to make myself listen to this narrator. maybe the story was amazing but there voice wasn't right, at least for me.

Cannot drag myself thru it.

I should preface this with the inclusion that my favorite author is Gilian Flynn so maybe I’m just spoiled to having a book captivate me from beginning to end.

I hate not finishing a book, no matter how bad it is, but I definitely should’ve stopped around chapter 5 like I wanted. I’m not sure who it was that called this book “gRiPpInG”, “ChILLinG”, or even a thriller, but I know they must lead terribly boring lives. Thrilling, this was anything but. It only took me 72 chapters to become interested! The only good thing about this book was the end, and knowing I was about to return it and get my credit back. Lol

The book is terrible, the narration isn’t great (and made me sleepy), you can’t easily distinguish which character is speaking and have to wait for context clues to be sure, and there is a glitch that makes it repeat sentences every once in a while. How this book has 4 stars amazes me.

Don’t waste your time...or credit.
