About this listen

The Icons came from the sky. They belong to an inhuman enemy. They ended our civilization, and they can kill us.

Most of us.

Dol, Ro, Tima, and Lucas are the four Icon Children, the only humans immune to the Icon's power to stop a human heart. Now that Los Angeles has been saved, things are more complicated - and not just because Dol has to choose between Lucas and Ro, the two great loves of her life. As she flees to a resistance outpost hidden beneath a mountain, Dol makes contact with a fifth Icon Child, if only through her visions. When Dol and the others escape to Southeast Asia in search of this missing child, Dol's dreams, feelings and fears collide in an epic showdown that will change more than just four lives - and stop one heart forever.

In this riveting sequel to Icons, filled with nonstop action and compelling romance, best-selling author Margaret Stohl explores what it means to be human and how our greatest weakness can be humanity's strongest chance at survival.

The Hunt Begins

What about Therese Plummer’s performance did you like?

She is a fantastic reader. I loved it.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

That ending!!!!!! Both spectacular, typical, and shocking or surprising. I haven't decided but wow!!

Any additional comments?

In this book you learn more about why they aliens chose earth, why the embassy's exist, and how the Icon children came about. In between that there is a small journey. The Icon children are being hunted and have very little resting time.

CHARACTERS

I hate that Tima was pushed in the back ground. I would love to learn more about her. In the book she was just..... um ......sweet. Everyone but Lucas seems to be getting stronger and developing their abilities. Not sure what is going on with him. He just seems like a boy in love in this book and really nothing more. Ro, what can I say about him? I just like him plain and simple. Ball of fire! The story is still from Dol point of view. She is very descriptive in her feelings but in my opinion I was a little tired of hearing about her feelings after a while. Usually by that time though something exploded or imploded or whatever so I was back into the book. She is becoming braver and that I like. I was a little frustrated by a few things. One was the fact that they hadn't devoured the book about them yet. Honestly, if they really wanted to know more about themselves, that would have been the first thing they should have been doing. You learn so much more about Fortis and believe me it is a story!!!!

OVERALL

To me this book was entertaining but at the same time a really light read. Not sure if that makes any sense but that is how i can describe it. I enjoyed the story, although I really wasn't sure where it was taking me, the ride was fun and...... um.....scenic. There are still a lot of questions left so I am curious as to how this will all end. Especially since things haven't worked out the way everyone planned.

Weird

Unless you are a big fan of aliens and sci-fi, I would not recommend you spending time reading this book. I didn’t care for the characters. I didn’t care what happened to them. I didn’t even care for the love triangle that’s usually in young adult novels.

To me this just left me in a “blah, oh well, I’ve finished another book for my reading challenge goal” attitude. I wouldn’t say that it was a waste of time, but I definitely won’t be recommending this book or reading it again in the future.

I do think the narrator did a good job reading this book for audible books. I am willing to listen to more of the books that she performs because if it hadn’t been for her, I would’ve stopped reading this book by the second chapter.
