About this listen

Theo MacLeod wasn't supposed to be the one.

Tall, dark and handsome suits me just fine, but the cocky grin, know-it-all attitude, and mammoth ego? No thanks. I only hired him so I wouldn't have to sit at the singles table again. It was just pretend.

He wasn't supposed to kiss me. My heart wasn't supposed to pound. We weren't supposed to spend the night together - the hottest night of my life. One night turns into a snowed-in weekend away, and even the blizzard of the century can't cool the fire between us. I can't get enough - of his smile, of his body, of the way he makes me feel.

We're nothing alike. He's a daredevil, and I'm a nervous Nellie. He's a drifter, and I want to put down roots. He's an opportunist with a checkered past, and I'm a Girl Scout volunteer.

But none of it matters when I'm in his arms.

I know he's made mistakes. I know his wounds are deep, and he doesn't trust easily. I know he doesn't believe he could ever be enough to make me happy, but he could. All he has to do is stay.

Stop watching life happen and jump in!

This book was great. There were ups and downs and a TON of self doubt (sometimes too much for my taste) but love bought it all together in the end. There were so really funny parts but I loved the epilog the best! It was cute and funny and tearful.

Claire was a bit of a self doubters without ever having put herself out there in the world. She was afraid of planes (and always wanted to travel) she was afraid to put her artwork out in the world for people to buy (but was an amazing artist). She was afraid of a lot but mostly the unknown. Her friends and family knew how loving and caring she was but she couldn't seem to make things work with a man for too long...which is why she was dateless for yet another wedding. Dreading the "weirdo" singles tables she went online to hire a date... Theo.

Theo was the polar opposite of Claire. he was daring, adventurous , a people person, he traveled the world , and was charming and could see right through her. On their first meeting he sized her up and told her exactly the kind of person she was. She was the kind of person that was looking at life instead of living life. feel on the other hand had Hang-Ups of his own. He was adventurous and a nomad for reason. Could Claire bring him to stop running?

Started iffy, but ended up really liking it!

First, I listened to the audio and the narrators did a great job and I’d recommend it.

Sweet story with a hero who isn’t perfect and makes mistakes sometimes. Both main characters have some issues with overcoming what scares them. She’s used to be the plain Jane type, and is scared to take that jump to show what she really wants; she’s too nice. He has abandonment issues, so he runs whenever emotions become involved. This may be a bit spoiler-ish, but not too bad. I read a review that said he leaves 3 times, but really they weren’t fully in a relationship for the first 2 times and it was only a couple days into the whole no strings thing. For someone that has issues with strings, they both fell hard and fast. I loved that there wasn’t any ow/om drama, and just dealt with Claire and Theo needing to growth within themselves. I enjoyed the story and at first I didn’t care for how they meet, but the story went a nice way after the first initial premise. Both characters grew and learned. This is the first Melanie Harlow book I’ve read and I’m looking forward to reading more from her.

Great story line !

I loved absolutely everything about the story ! The only thing that killed it for me was Theos narrator . His voice didn’t match what I thought he would sound like . But don’t let that stop you from reading/listening to this book ! It’s hot and fun ! Absolutely loved it .

If you were mine

A good reason to rent a date. Narration was great. Storyline was good. I got this with the romance package. Plan on adding to my permanent collection.

Perfect

I enjoyed every delicious word! Telling the story that everyone has a little baggage, doesn’t mean it has to stay packed and ready to go.

so adorable......a must read.

I suggest reading the 4 or 5 star reviews to get an idea of how awesome this story is. I have no complaints. Bravo Harlow......I felt every emotion from the characters even shedding a tear or two on more than one occasion. absolutely moving.

AWESOME!!!

I justed loved this book! I had been introduced to Melanie Harlow writing, after she had co-written a few books with Corrine Michaels, and fell in love with her instantly. Since then, I've searched out for novels that she has stepped out on her on and still been impressed with everything I've read so fall.

"If You Were Mine," a story about Claire and Theo; being the two main characters of the novel, was quite different from what I thought it would be about based on the title alone. I was oh so wrong but no way disappointed by it. If anything I was more drawn in, as you will be after reading it yourself.

It was filled with love, anguish, humor, disappointment, anxiety, fight and LOTS of Hot, Hot, 🔥 STEAMY sex. The heroine learns about sensous side of herself up to a new world of romance that she thought she would only read and experience it in her romance novels.

Although the hero of the story was able to bring out that side of her that may have forever been hidden, there was something about him that he didn't share with anyone; a reason he didn't allow anyone to get close to him.
Could a relationship with only one all in and the other hiding secrets???

Renee Givens and Rob Howard both had done a wonderful job narrating this novel and I look forward to future readings by them.
"If You Were Mine" deserves every bit of 5stars, if there was a way to rate the book and narration higher, I would because there would deserve every bit more of it!

Better than expected.

New author and narrators for me and with this book, I'm a fan of all three. 😁 Despite being in a series, this can be read/heard as a standalone; cause I totally don't have any others in the series lol.
This was a fun listen full of feel good and depressing moments (for those of us who are painfully single...) and some hot scenes, and deceptively deep. ❤
