About this listen

Jimmy Veeder has finally settled down, completing his dramatic transformation from hell-raiser to family man. With his new wife, Angie, and eight-year-old son, Juan, he lives the quiet life. No trouble, no problems.

Or so he thought. But this is Jimmy Veeder's Fiasco, after all.

The night after his wedding, Jimmy is lured right back into a world of danger and mayhem when childhood friend Tomás Morales, the current crime lord of Mexicali, turns up on his doorstep offering information about the whereabouts of his son's grandfather, for whom Jimmy has been searching for years.

Jimmy and Angie head to Mexico - one part honeymoon, one part expedition to find Juan's grandfather - accompanied by old pals Bobby Maves and Griselda.

The trip immediately careens into chaos when they find themselves shadowed by thugs, shot at by cartel soldiers, and forced into a confrontation with a violent, volatile drug lord. The fight spreads from Sinaloa back to Jimmy's doorstep, putting everything Jimmy cares about directly in the crosshairs.

unlike many series, the Jimmy Veeder Fiascos got better as they went. This was a satisfying conclusion with a great set of characters. The laughs were just as fresh after the third installment, what more can you ask? The barrage of 80s references were also amusing.

Nice side handed reference to his stand-alone masterpiece, Big Maria.

a funny and satisfying conclusion

"Imperial Valley" is the third book of Jimmy Veeder Fiasco's series. Jimmy matured into a husband and adopted his father son from the death of his mother. The kid's real grandfather wants his grandson back, along with some fight with a drug lord in Mexico. I'm being vague with the story, but whatever. You just have to read this one for yourself.

I always thought that Johnny Shaw knows his audience best. He just understand what the readers wants. More swearing and more laughs.

More Swearing with More Laughs

With IMPERIAL VALLEY author Johnny Shaw has written an excellent suspense mystery. He has also shown a flair for comedy and a remarkable talent of getting multiple vulgarities into a single sentence of dialog. Sometimes he manages four or even five curse words into a single sentence; and he does it again and again throughout the book! IMPERIAL VALLEY is the third novel in the author's Jimmy Veeder Fiasco series. I expect to skip the first two.

Interesting and fun vulgar suspense mystery!
