About this listen

A house inches 800 miles to confess its horrible crime. The last resident of a mental institution discovers he's not alone. A middle-schooler performs an experiment to determine how much time we fit in dreams. Boys looking for wonder find more than they're expecting in the Adirondacks with Charles Fort. A detective learns everything he's ever wanted to know...and some things he hasn't. In Will Ludwigsen's short stories of strangeness and mystery, the universe has a way of being weird in just the ways we need it to be. There are answers to many of our deepest questions...and they're usually far more personal than we expect. What are you in search of? And what is in search of you?

Little bits of life

Would you listen to In Search Of and Others again? Why?

I would listen to some of the stories again.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This seems an unfair question with such a large assortment of characters and stories. Hard pressed I would probably pick the moving house and its intense passion to set things right and tell its story. I have often wished that the walls of the houses I have lived in could tell me their stories!

What does Philip Hoffman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love the way Philip Hoffman read this book. He is precise and clear and it was his intonation that kept me interested in continuing to listen to the stories.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I wanted to, but it is nearly impossible for me to have that much time in one sitting.

Wonderfully Off-Beat Stories Beautifully Performed

What did you like best about this story?

This is a fascinating collection of stories that put me in mind of Lovecraft, Philip K. Dick, and other masters of the fantasy/horror genre. Adding to the pleasure of the stories is the superb reading of Mr. Hoffman, one of the best I've listened to. I will definitely seek out other books by this author and readings by this narrator.
