Publisher's summary

Taking a night off from running her successful San Francisco clothing store, Lily attends a local art deco ball where vintage fashions steal the show. But when a young woman at the event falls under a mysterious sleeping sickness, Lily senses that a curse was placed on the woman's corsage.

Before Lily can solve the woman's magical ailment, she's asked to assist in investigating a string of poisonings in the Bay Area witchcraft community. She's gained the trust of the local covens by supporting women's charities through her clothing store. But soon, Lily suspects that one of her new acquaintances might not be so well-intentioned and could be dabbling in dark magic and deadly botany....

I really want to go shopping at her store.

Lily Ivory books are not books that I feel that I have to read one right after another, but I do enjoy them and will read them all eventually. For those who like a clean paranormal story without detailed sex or cussing, this series would be a good selection. I really like the friendships Lily has formed. I also enjoy how Lily tries to help others the only way she knows how. I hope that Lily's love life stays on this same trek, I have liked Sailor from the beginning. There is no great mystery here with this book, it was slightly predictable, but that is not the charm of this series. I do recommend reading in order. My only complaint is that the narrator is so slow I found myself nodding off some, so I against my better judgment I increased the speed on the narration and found that I wasn't quite as bored with her reading.

Enjoy a fun story about a good witch and a pig

I like all of Juliet Blackwell's books, but especially love the Witchcraft Mystery series. While a witch is the main character, and her "familiar" is a pig, these are not horrifying stories. Each story has a good mystery and interesting characters that are centered around the good kind of magic.

Xe Sands is a FABULOUS narrator.

I really enjoy this style of writing

What made the experience of listening to In a Witch's Wardrobe the most enjoyable?

I enjoy the paranormal mixed with the "girl next door" feeling I get from Lilly. I love her vintage clothing store & I even enjoy the mystery in each story. It's easy listening.

What other book might you compare In a Witch's Wardrobe to and why?

All of Juliet Blackwell's books in this series.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Lilly & Saylor fell in love! I wish he would come back!

Who was the most memorable character of In a Witch's Wardrobe and why?

Saylor. I want to know more about him & his powers. Why did he run away?

Any additional comments?

Blackwell keeps getting better and better

If you could sum up In a Witch's Wardrobe in three words, what would they be?

Witty
Exciting
Entertaining

Who was your favorite character and why?

Oscar; Lily’s familiar. He is the most unusual of characters. He is always entertaining and intriguing. Lily does not know much about him, or even if he is HER familiar, or sent to spy on her. Each book she gets to know a bit more about him. In this book, she inquires about his age and instead of telling her, he just tells her that is a rude question.

Have you listened to any of Xe Sands’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have only listened to Xe Sands's performances in Blackwell's books. I find her pace and characterization to be very easy to listen to and entertaining.

If you could rename In a Witch's Wardrobe, what would you call it?

Mystery in a Mirror.

In a Witch’s Wardrobe

Lily Ivory, owner of Aunt Clara’s Closet, a vintage clothing shop is doing a thriving business. There’s an upcoming ball @ the Paramount Theater & lots of ladies are shopping for vintage clothing to wear. Lily is being escorted by Aiden & she is excited. Soon after their arrival, Lily senses something just doesn’t feel right & even thinks she sees images of a woman in the Ladies Room downstairs. A woman who looks much like the woman in the mirror collapses while Lily tries to help her. Lily’s senses tell her that the woman has been cursed & she begins to investigate who is responsible. Another great story with lots of action. It’s hard to put down a book in this series!

Eeee

Okay, something awesome happens in this one, but something weird too. It's in regards to Lily's multitude of boyfriends/relationships with men. I'm not a lover of woman that try men on like shoes as Lily seems to inadvertently do, but I'm loving the result. I love Oscar, who doesn't, and I hope he finds his mom, but I'm all about the most recent development in Lily's love life. The story was good, Juliette Blackwell doesn't disappoint. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Not a super fan of Xe Sands, but I'm getting accustomed to the whispery tone of her voice, which seems to work well with Lily's character.
