Publisher's summary

A shocking abduction rocks idyllic Sandhamn Island in an enthralling novel of suspense by Viveca Sten, bestselling author of In the Heat of the Moment.

With the summer season on Sandhamn comes an unsettling mystery for Detective Inspector Thomas Andreasson. A bullied young boy has vanished from a sailing camp on neighboring Lökholmen Island. Has the terrorized eleven-year-old run away? Or, in this isolated vacation spot where strangers lurk, is it something more ominous?

The disappearance has also captured the interest of Thomas's longtime friend, attorney Nora Linde. The missing child happens to be the son of her latest client, Christian Dufva. He is a key witness against his partner in a high-profile embezzlement trial, and Dufva's testimony could be devastating. It'll also be Nora’s biggest win - the next step toward a position as chief prosecutor. But with every anonymous threat against Dufva, the stakes get higher.

When new evidence surfaces in their respective cases, new questions and fears arise for Thomas and Nora. Time is running out to resolve them. So is hope of finding the boy alive. Because on Sandhamn Island, the truth is buried as deep as the secrets.

Best one yet!

Love this series - characters are non-perfect people trying to make a difference. Viveca Sten had many flawed characters who got what they deserved in the end.

Great Mystery Series

I just finished the last book in the Sandhamn series. I thoroughly enjoyed these mysteries. The stories were so good that I listened to all 8 in just a couple days. I enjoyed watching the main characters live their lives as they solved different mysteries. The books are very well written. It took a while to figure out who 'dunnit in each book'. Great mysteries.

Thou Shall Not Bear False Witness

Nora Linde is about to prosecute her most important case of her career thus far. Detective Inspector Thomas Andreasson is working on the abduction of an eleven year old boy from a swim camp. Unbeknownst to them their cases are linked.

Warning: Graphic depiction of the mind of a child abuser.

A complete world

Well rounded characters, compete with virtues and vices. Excellent atmospheric word pictures that add extra dimensions to the stories. Complex story lines where not everything is exactly as it first appears. Excellent story arc and very good endings.

Pleasantly Surprised

I stumbled upon this book series years ago and have been excited each time a new one is released. I appreciate how the characters continue to develop and how we get to follow thier stories from book to book. Usually I am able to "predict" the ending as it nears, but this one kept me guessing, which was great. As always, I loved Angela Dawes performance-she does excellent work.

Use of the F word

The story and performance by the narrator was wonderful as always. But this is the first time the F word was used and loudly at that. I’m not sure that I’ll continue to buy the next book because I don’t want little ears to hear such words. I do thank you for the stories though.

what's with the f-word??

I've read all the Sandham books up to this one and while they've been acceptably enjoyable, I couldn't help but notice she has increased her use of the f-word more with each book. It's both disconcerting and unnecessary. especially when the person is yelling it, which seems to be the case much of the time. WHY do authors feel the need to do that??

I have loved this author, this series...

I found this very dark, too dark for me. At the end when there was supposed to be a ray of sunshine, all I could think was, "you bumbling fool, why would you marry this guy who can only use the word 'no' on you?" I guess it sets her up for her next divorce very nicely.

In the past, the characters, and the islands, and the water didn't make you feel hopeless. Maybe just don't read this during the winter.

Series gone terribly wrong

Unthinkable the topic you decided to select for this book. I am not only don'e with your series, I'm done with you as an author. There was no need for you to select this type of storyline in the continued development of these characters. So sick that you would choose a story to exploit child harm and these criminals acts!

Too much of a Downer Feeling

only made it through about a third of the book. While it's well written, the story is just a "downer" feeling with all of the main characters and only the promise of getting more so. Not my cup of tea.
