About this listen

A stellar new science-fiction adventure from the author who redefined space opera, set in his best-selling Revelation Space universe.

For 30 years, a tiny band of humans has been sheltering in the caverns of an airless, crater-pocked world called Michaelmas. Beyond their solar system lie the ruins of human interstellar civilization, stalked by a ruthless, infinitely patient cybernetic entity determined to root out the last few bands of survivors. One man has guided the people of Michaelmas through the hardest of times and given them hope against the wolves: Miguel de Ruyter.

When a lone human ship blunders into their system and threatens to lead the wolves to Michaelmas, de Ruyter embarks on a desperate, near-suicide mission to prevent catastrophe. But an encounter with a refugee from the ship - the enigmatic woman who calls herself only Glass - leads to de Ruyter's world being turned upside down.

Reynolds does it again

I couldn't put it down. I would find every opportunity I could to take a trip in the car or to have an excuse to have my headphones on. This is a really beautiful bow. put on the amazing revelation space universe.

I started this book knowing I was going on a trip. This Journey I knew would be a mystery at first however I knew mystery is part of the magic of any Alastair Reynolds novel. The discoveries, the grand scale , and my attachments to the characters are all part of the journey in my trip through wonder. No spoilers…. Enjoy 5 star’s

Deeply entrenched in theoretical astrophysics

Which is why we read AR and his books based in the RS universe! John Lee completes another masterpiece, and he brings brand new characters to life with slightly familiar accents.

The fully baked nature of the next story in the RS universe settles upon a force of nature that requires the use of findings from Yellowstone, Pattern Jugglers, and our familiar friends that defy time and space in their survival. If you've followed Reynolds through the series, you don't want to miss this one!

thrilling and chilling

A continuation of many themes in the revelation space world with a dark opressing story mired with subtle twists of hope. John Lee is also top notch as the performer.

Speechless. Well almost.

I am in such awe of the incredible mind of Alistaire Reynolds.
And am so fortunate to have glimpsed it through his books.
And to know the joy of John Lee’s storytelling.
