Ben Ripley may only be in middle school, but he's already pegged his dream job: CIA or bust. Unfortunately for him, his personality doesn't exactly scream "secret agent". In fact Ben is so awkward, he can barely get to school and back without a mishap. Because of his innate nerdiness, Ben is not surprised when he is recruited for a magnet school with a focus on science - but he's entirely shocked to discover that the school is actually a front for a junior CIA academy.

At the dawn of the 20th century, humanity was facing global disaster. Mass starvation, long predicted for the fast-growing population, was about to become a reality. A call went out to the worlds scientists to find a solution. This is the story of the two enormously gifted, fatally flawed men who found it: the brilliant, self-important Fritz Haber and the reclusive, alcoholic Carl Bosch. Together they discovered a way to make bread out of air, built city-sized factories, controlled world markets, and saved millions of lives.

North Korea is like no other tyranny on Earth. Its citizens are told their home is the greatest nation in the world, and Big Brother is always watching. It is Orwell's 1984 made reality. Huge factories with no staff or electricity, hospitals with no patients, uniformed child soldiers, and the world-famous and eerily empty DMZ - the Demilitarized Zone, where North Korea ends and South Korea begins - are all framed by a relentless flow of regime propaganda from omnipresent loudspeakers. Free speech is an illusion: one word out of line, and the gulag awaits.

In 1518, in a small town in Alsace, Frau Troffea began dancing and didn't stop. She danced until she was carried away six days later, and soon 34 more villagers joined her. Then more. In a month more than 400 people had been stricken by the mysterious dancing plague. In late-19th-century England an eccentric gentleman founded the No Nose Club in his gracious townhome - a social club for those who had lost their noses, and other body parts, to the plague of syphilis for which there was then no cure.

My grandkids were glued to every word!
As a grandmother always on the lookout for stories that both entertain and educate, I stumbled upon a gem: "Interesting Stories for Curious Kids." It's not every day you find a book that makes history and bizarre facts as captivating as a bedtime fairy tale. This audiobook became our go-to during visits, transforming our afternoons into journeys of discovery and amazement.

Fun and Educational
This book is loaded with fun, interesting facts for kids or, in my case, adults. I actually learned a lot from this book. The way the author explained these historical facts made me want more. Just to give an example, I have always been fascinated with WWII. There is a factual story in the book about WWII I'll bet you didn't know. If you like pirates, you'll love this story about a famous TV pirate we all know. I highly recommend this book.

Making history and events fun for Kids
When I was young, I read the Horrible Histories series; I still have fond memories of it, as it made gruesome history fun. This audiobook, with its exploding rats, urine mouth cleaning, and cyborg spy cat, gave me many of the same vibes. My kids enjoyed listening to it and loved telling their friends fun facts they learned.
