About this listen

When the end arrives, how far will you go to survive?

With over 4 million books sold, the number one best-selling and most prolific post-apocalyptic thriller author Mike Kraus brings a gripping tale of destruction, survival, and humanity like no one else can.

On a quiet evening like any other, virtually anything that uses fuel goes up in flames, killing billions in the first twenty-four hours alone. Remnants of governments reel as they try to deal with the destruction of their countries and decimation of their military infrastructure as their cities burn to the ground.

On a quiet beach in South Florida, Alice Burton and her two children have started the family vacation early - all that's left is for James to fly in from a conference in Colorado. When the small beach town they're staying in is consumed by fire, they're forced to seek help on foot - facing dangers both natural and manmade at every turn.

Meanwhile, at the Denver International Airport, James Burton hides beneath an overpass as cars and planes erupt in flame around him. His survival is not guaranteed, as a treacherous journey through the heart of Denver and beyond awaits him if he has any hope of reuniting with his family.

Back home, on their small farm outside East Lansing, Michigan, Alice's parents are house-sitting, and are about to experience the most intense test of their survival and homesteading skills that they could ever imagine.

This omnibus edition of The End of All Things contains all 6 books from the original series:
The Collapse
The Desolation
The Ruination
The Darkness
The Devouring
The Redemption

Interwoven families.

I think of all post apocalyptic series this is definitely my favorite. I absolutely loved this new approach to what caused the end. I also appreciated no zombies. Great characters and animals. I’m definitely going to be looking for more from this author!

Best one ever

this book was so filled with unnecessary details and story lines! ugh.....I had high hopes because I've listened to another of his book, but this was so disappointing. it just drags on and on. kind of feels like the author couldn't come up with content so he just added weird dialog. also, his voice is awful to listen to! I hate it when writers think they should also be the voice we listen to. Seems rather narcissistic to me.

decent story line but.....not worth the listen!

Loved the story line. enjoyed that the author narrated his own book. This gave it a more personal touch.

best survival end times story yet.

I started listening to this genre of books in January of 2024, just after my Dad passed away, I have 77 EOTW books in my library now . These books have been an amazing distraction for me.

This particular series was one of my all time favorite. I am actually disappointed and sad that it’s ended.

The problem these folks had to deal with starting with the first chapter was quite unique. Admittedly some of what occurred was probably unlikely but regardless I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, I really loved the story.

Not just an EMP to live through!

I’m just going to be blunt and honest up front. The author should never be the performer of their own work. While I could barely handle his narration, his reading of dialogue made me cringe and nearly quit listening more times than I can count. At its core, this was a great story. While the cause of the catastrophe was improbable to the point of impossible, all of the dynamics in between were great.

I just cannot forgive how badly the author failed at giving his own characters the voices they deserved. Why was Ryan the only character that got a distinct voice? The villain sounded like a whiny choirboy rather than someone that has devolved into the depraved lunacy his actions so clearly took him? All other characters were indistinguishable. Part of what I think contributed to such poor dialogue performance is the fact that the dialogue was written so poorly in the source material. I don’t understand how the story had great nuance but the dialogue read like a fifth grade school play. There was no depth to the words used between intimate characters. Everything sounded superficial and stunted.

I’m sorry, I truly do not want to come across as insulting. I truly enjoyed the story, but the performance was bad enough that had I not paid money for this title, I would not have gotten past the first book.

Needed a professional voice actor

Solid story, maybe could have been a little shorter with some spots a little more details then needed. Well worth credit for one box set. Goor narration

Worth the credit!

The performance kept me from finishing, the story was good but I could not get past the actors attempts at women’s and children’s voices. Good grief.

Just read the book

Like the character development, and story building

Dislike Central premise of a bio attack causing fuel to explode even in tanks with no fuel air mixture.

Dislike characters doing incredibly dumb things to set up plot items Examples: Alice trusting people she should have left in a puddle. Red not being shot on arrival at the farm.

Dislike technical errors that basic knowledge of the subject matter would prevent. Example: Abrams main gun firing pin rusted in place? That gun is fired electrically.

Good story, needs better research
