About this listen

George Galen is a brilliant scientist, a pioneer in gene therapy. But Galen is dangerously insane. He has created a method to alter human DNA, not just to heal diseases, but also to "improve" people - make them stronger, make them able to heal more quickly...and make them compliant to his will.

Frank Hartman is also a brilliant virologist, working for the government's ultra-secret biohazard agency. He has discovered how to neutralize Galen's DNA-changing virus. Now he is the one man who stands in the way of Galen's plan to "improve" the entire human race.

This taut thriller takes the listener a few years into the future and shows the promise and danger of new genetic medicine techniques.

Creepy scary

Well performed and a good listen. Some of the premise is becoming all too possible, which definitely made this book disquieting and compelling. Fast paced and entertaining.

Captivating entertainment, but lacks credibility.

Lacked scientific plausibility of viral brain/memory transference. Liked his character development and story line complexity.

An Interesting Read

The book definitely shows how much Aaron Johnston has grown as an author. I believe the reason Card is listed as an author is because the book is based off of a short story he wrote called "Malpractice" in 1977. It seems to me that he had very little to do with the book, except make money off of it. Don't let this read lead you away from other books written by this pair, those that I've read are among my favorite of all time.

Don’t speed this one up

I know some listeners like to speed up the story line, but this audio book deserves to be listened to at normal speed. OSC is a top tier writer with a superb talent for creating interesting characters and situations. Plus, the narrator (used frequently by OSC) has matching talent and a beautiful voice. Enjoy this one. Loved it.
