About this listen

In this national best-seller, Robert Bly explores the idea of the missing father in contemporary society. He draws upon a cornucopia of legend and literature - as varied as the poetry of William Blake, Jungian psychology, and Sioux initiation rituals - to encourage men in their pursuit of the “inner warrior.”

Difficult to convey Robert Bly. Ferrone delivered. I hear Robert Bly more clearly after this interpretation. Superior.

Honored to have someone more adept with their words describe and break down the different “feelings” and nature of masculinity. Easily relatable to current times and the key we are missing in our culture. I hope this book stokes the noble flames inside your belly like it has mine, cheers.

This book was very deep but sometimes I felt like he was just speaking gibberish. But I still liked it

Pretty deep but also pretty weird

This book is now a classic that is foundational to various segments of the greater men's movement, but definitely the book for what became known as the mythopoetic men's movement. An excellent resource for a deeper understanding of the soul of men. Reads almost like Joseph Campbell's "The Hero With A Thousand Faces" with many references to classic literature as well as more modern psychology, sociology, and anthropology. All of it expressed in a more streamlined and simple manner, thereby making it easy to understand as a much more practical book and not something highly academic.

Timeless

A wonderful tail, masterfully told and beautifully read. This story and the analysis by Robert Bly is a testament to the power of our individual nature as human beings. It’s reminds us that it’s good to engender your self as male or female and that not doing so is so detrimental to us individually and collectively as a society. Be proud of masculinity. Embrace mentorship.

A very important read

Putting a price tag on this book cannot justify the value that you will receive in reading it. Iron John serves as an antidote to the widespread depression, anxiety, and lack of general happiness that modern men are plagued with.

The book goes over each part of the original fable in detail, allowing you to truly understand and comprehend the message in-between the lines. It also resonates with modern social issues, and offers a fresh perspective on the root causes to them. Without this book, I would be lost. I have re-read it once already, and plan to keep it with me for the rest of my life.

If i could give it 6 stars, I would. Do yourself a favor and get close with the wild man.

A Must Read For Men of Our Generation
