Publisher's summary

Robert A. Johnson's classic work exploring the differences between man and woman, female and male - newly reissued.

What does it really mean to be a man? What are some of the landmarks along the road to mature masculinity? And what of the feminine components of a man's personality?

Women have developed, over the centuries, considerable expertise in the technique of adapting to men, and for good reason, but that is not the same as truly understanding them. The transition from male childhood to real manhood is a complicated struggle, and explored in this book.

As timely today as when it was first published, He provides a fascinating look into male identity and how female dynamics influence men.

A well thought out book

This was a nice look at the Arthurian Legend and the Hero’s Journey. The author walks the reader through all stages of a guy's life highlighting all the transitions a guy goes through or avoids in his life. It was a really great look at a journey through a guy’s life which can help all of us understand ourselves.

Cliff notes for the soul

I’ve read this book twice. Once 20+ years ago and just now. It’s brilliant and lays out a path towards a soulful existence with others.

Excellent Explanation of The Hero’s Journey

Loved the use of myth in understanding the psychology of the hero’s journey and discovery within the masculine. Will definitely listen to his other books “She” and “We”. Also, the narrator’s voice, tone and pacing was on point!

Read It For Every Male In Your Life, Including Your Inner Male

Not what I expected. This is based in medieval times. Nothing practical for my 21st century American life.

Skip this title. I did get some value out of the Chasity chapter. Completely misleading title.

Basically a book report about one story

There were some good stories in this but to take one story, base everything on your opinion and nothing else and present as fact was lacking at best.

Do not recommend

What a useless book. The author narrates a mythical story upon Jung developed his theory, only to give the most vague and scarce explanation. I'm left knowing or understand nothing. Do not recommend.
