About this listen

Meeting Porter may be the best thing that ever happened to Winona Fairchild, besides the births of her two beautiful children. But as much as Porter wants to get married, Winona has good reason not to get too close to anyone, no matter how right it may seem.

Despite a threat from the past that comes back to haunt him, Porter is willing to stand his ground. But when Winona's long-time secret is revealed to her kids, someone will have to pay. And Winona will learn how much the truth can hurt, and how much it can heal.

Good

I really liked this book and would recommend this book. I wish this book was a movie or TV show. At times it was kind of slow but then it will pick up again. It touched on real life situations like HIV , wanting to start a family fibroids in the uterus, teen pregnancy, overdeveloped teenagers and realizing your dreams. I didn't however like the ending I wish it would have told more on how her daughter reacted to her having HIV since the daughter had a negative view on it how her father and mother were affected by her saying that he told her son that she had HIV and then told his secret of having outside children. if the outside children finally met all of the other children and got along or not. The cure the doctor told her he had to cure her HIV or was that just his pick up line. I know there is a system cell procedure that happened to an individual that had cancer and had HIV and now they have no trace of HIV do to the stem cell procedure they had effectively curing them. It was on the local news when I was listening to this book and thought that was interesting and that maybe the author was taking that route with the storyline.

good story

I enjoyed the story line of this book, but at times the narrator sounded like she had a mouthful of saliva or too much lip gloss on. I cringed everytime I heard it.

Narrators smacking and slurping doing the dialogue

Storyline overall good! They need to stop drinking or eating while narrating. Unprofessional to me

No Thank You

Audible Escape has a terrible hotep-ish selection of books by black authors. Every book is about how annoying a black woman is and great the black man is or its just extremely "ghetto". Even Patricia Floyd (who as always) was amazing could help me get pass the hoteppery here. Need more Mary Monroe books.

Okay

The story and performance were great. The production was terrible. There was no pause betten chapters and often one voice overlaped the voice of the next chapter.

Pretty good

This was definitely a unique plot. I found it interesting that none of Porter's indiscretions while cheating on Winona played any real significance in the story. For the most part, it was a good read. I felt like the audio editing needed to be better because the chapters would run right into each other sometimes and it seemed choppy. As usual Patricia Floyd can always be heard swallowing her spit. It drives me CRAZY! She's a good narrator, but I hate listening to her usually because engineering can't seem to edit that spit swallowing out of her narrations.

Couldn't finish, not my type of read

I know the description is limited, but there are some things that should be described in advance. To each his own, but I don't want to read about men cheating on women with other men. Also, does every black woman have to be angry or ready to go off ALLLL the time. It's so unfortunate that Black authors have such stereotypical storylines and lack creativity. Would not recommend this book.
