About this listen

James Lake is a typical 12-year-old kid...that is if you count debunking myths like the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and Santa Claus as being typical. With his family's move from Florida to Washington, James is thrown into social chaos and finds himself hunting for Bigfoot while trying to dodge the school bullies and keep himself off the endangered species list. Will James debunk the legend of Big Foot, or will he find that not all myths are so easily dismissed?

Join James and all the strange and interesting people he meets in his adventures.... You'll never think of Bigfoot the same way again.

Critic reviews

"Author Neil F. Wilson manages to capture a nice blend of drama and humor during the course of the story. It's an intriguing tale with plenty of interesting characters. Greg Patmore delivers a steady performance as narrator while enriching each character's personality for the listener. We've all been there, letting go of the past to face new challenges. Overall a lovely telling and a book everyone should try at least once." (Alwyn Ash, thedreamcage.com)

FANTASTIC BOY'S TALE

What's more fun for a boy than hunting Bigfoot in the Washington woods! I myself live in SW Washington and know first-hand the wonders and powers of Bigfoot. It's a creature like no other, and once you hear one, or SEE one, you'll never be the same :)

After having to move ALL the way across the country, 12 y/o James Lake is thrust into a very different environment. He soon finds himself in the adventure of a lifetime. Great characters, loved the story, and the narration was awesome. Even though I'm a bit older than the target audience, I'm a fan of Bigfoot, especially in WA State. :)

Wonderful children's to teen novel

I really enjoyed this story, it shows the struggle a 12 year old boy goes through moving across country and leaving friends behind and the n trying to make new friends. It gets more interesting as James starts investigating the stories of Big Foot. It is one that I will let my kids listen to and I know they will all enjoy it. I would definitely recommend this book to both boys and girls that like a fun mystery.

Need a sequel ASAP

Great story with some excellent twists. Love how the author creates the characters emotions and development so clearly! Voice actor was actually pretty solid. Good voices though he spoke a little slow IMO. Thankful for variable speed controls though so it didn’t detract from the telling.

Enjoyed even though I'm in my 40's.

Shush, don't tell anyone. I laughed and giggled as if I were a junior high girl again. I always loved Nancy Drew books and have been preoccupied my whole life with E.T.s ,ufos, ghosts and anything paranormal really. Well when I come across James and the Bigfoot files i couldn't help myself. I'm looking forward to the next one. I loved the music at the start of each chapter and the narrator did a awesome job.

A great story for young adults and young at heart

LOVED this story. It is near the top of my favorites list. The music between the chapters is a nice addition. I enjoyed it. The trials of moving as experienced by a 12 year old, the friendships lost and new ones found, and of course the hunt for Bigfoot. Many unexpected turns in the story. Can’t wait for part 2. A great story by Neil Wilson. The narration was easy to listen to. Thanks to Greg Patmore’s great voices.

Great YA audiobook

Even as an older adult I was easily entertained. Includes many of the feelings we had as Jr. High and Middle school students. Well done with quite an unexpected twist!

Attention holder and surprisingly suspenseful.

This book kept your attention because you had to be in the moment with what was going on and the change of characters
and scenes. At time I couldn't and didn't want to put it down. Worth every minute I spent reading this book and look
forward to a Book !! - hope there will be one.
