Publisher's summary

A delight for young listeners and the young at heart.

A princess trapped in a high tree and a brash young man determined to “rescue” her; a devoted daughter searching for a magical spring to save her ailing father; a teenage girl who is forced to replace her mobile phone with a machete to protect her family from zombies - all their stories interweave in a stirring alchemy set in a rich African backdrop.

Ted Neill moves listeners from folktale to action, comedy to cosmology, rural to urban, and material to spiritual with the ease of a master storyteller, crafting an adventure along the way that will appeal to the head, the heart, and the soul.

Story with Vision

Ted Neill had a wonderful vision in writing these well developed characters in this stories of Africa. They had a lesson that each of us need to embrace. Natalie Naudus made it fun to listen to it and she was the perfect narrator.

Awesome, Colorful Story

At first I was a bit hesitant about a book containing zombies. However, there wasn't any gore and everything worked together to weave a wonderful story. I especially liked the way the old and new were weaved together: shamans and ancient cultural rituals existed right alongside first person shooters and Wi-Fi. The overall storytelling was amazing.

My only critique is that initially the structure of the book confused me. When the first two stories ended abruptly, I figured it was a collection of short stories. However, it turns out that these two stories are weaved into a third, much longer story. I love the way these stories were melded, but I wonder if it could have been done differently.

This is a great fantasy story

This is a great story . It’s my first from this author . Love how the author wrote about fantasy and science fiction . Listen and see how each subject is played out . The first is about a proud and confident man who tells the chief how much he loves his daughter. The chief tells Jamhuri he hid his daughter and if Jamhuri wants the daughter he needs to find her.
Njambi Is another story , he’s sick and the doctor tells Njambi if he wants to survive he needs to drink from the water of life . Njambi wife says to their youngest daughter she should go and get it.
The zombies one shows the author great humour and fantasy of how things would be in the future.

Natalie was superb narrating this story. I have always enjoyed her voice. Her voice is smooth strong and clear

Pleasantly surprised

I'm not really into zombies but because I like this narrators style and voice I decided to try it. I was hooked right from the beginning. Normally I don't care for stories with multiple story lines but each story connected so it held my interest. The last chapter was of no interest to me hence the reason it wasn't a full 5 stars. I didn't need the backdrop so to speak. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Excellent Story!

I received this audio book for free in exchange for my honest review. This story is both written and narrated impeccably. This is actually 3 interwoven stories that all come together at the end to inspire hope in the reader. Anyone with a kind heart cannot help but love this tale even if you're not a fan of zombie stories.
