About this listen

The happiest day of Payton Lambert's life was the day she graduated high school and watched Bald Knob, Kentucky, get smaller and smaller in her rearview mirror. She wanted more for her life than a tiny town where everyone knows your business and you can't find a decent cup of coffee for at least 40 miles. Twelve years later an unexpected phone call in the middle of the night has her packing up her life in Chicago and racing back home to the one person she ever regretted leaving behind.

Upon her return she sees that Leo Hudson, the scrawny boy who had followed Payton around like a puppy and could recite cow insemination facts in his sleep, is long gone. Leo is still hot on her heels, but now he's wearing a sheriff badge and dead set on solving a murder that may or may not involve Payton, along with half the town. In a town where the biggest crime happened the day someone kicked a few of his cows, people are pointing fingers, rumors are spreading like wildfire, and Payton swears she's only making out with the sweet-talking, studly sheriff to distract him from the secrets she's keeping.

When you've been tased, peed on by a yippy dog named Bo Jangles, and can't stop picturing what Sheriff Hudson looks like naked, it will be a tough job making everyone agree that Jed had to die.

Loved!!!

I'm a big fan of Tara Sivec. I love how she can write in so many different styles and still capture you in her stories. Jed Had to Die tackles a serious subject, that hit close to home for me. The sarcasm and quirkiness of the characters makes the story believable and hilarious. Though it was a little fast past at times the story was very enjoyable.

Also, don't listen at work unless you are prepared to explain sudden outburst of laughter!!!

Love❤️love❤️love❤️

Tara Sivec is probably my favorite author right now. She roped me in a couple years ago with Chocolate Lovers series. Since then, I never hesitate to pick up any new release.
I love this story! I laughed so hard! I want to live in Bald Knob and drink Liquid Crack and eat sweet corn and blueberry pie! The narrator was PERFECT for this lighthearted story and she really brought Payton, Emma Joe and Betty to life. If you have a sense of humor (like, even a little bitty one) you need to read this now...seriously, now.

5 Star Hilarity

Any additional comments?

A comedic take on a "who dunnit". These 2 best friends are hilarious in their own separate ways and I laughed and giggled the whole book. With all of the twists and turns and admissions and denials, I seriously had no idea how Jed died until the very end. This book will keep you entertained and unable to press pause.

Amy McFadden is one of my favorites and she is absolutely perfect for this book. Her timber and tone brought each and every character to life.

This is only the second review I've written...

but I have to share my opinion whether you want it or not. I haven't enjoyed a story this much in a very long time! You've got to listen to this when you need more than a few chuckles. I'll be looking for more Tara Sivec books in the future (like immediately). For a reAl escape from the daily grind (pun intended).

I Had to Laugh...

...out loud...at work.
Sweet Appalachian fried possums, there was so much about this book that had me tearing up with the dreaded giggle-snorts. Dang if this wasn't a fairly decent representation of some of the fine people you can find in beautiful Blue Grass country. This is a totally fun, totally funny rom-com that gallops along with great humor and wonderful heart as well.

When the hard knocks of life kick me around a little harder than normal, there's nothing better than the escapism of a good romantic comedy, and this one absolutely delivers.
