About this listen

Being the new kid in town isn't easy for Elizabeth until she meets Jennifer, an honest-to-goodness witch!

From the moment Jennifer starts sharing her powers with Elizabeth, their secret friendship is sealed. Each Saturday they meet in the park to cast spells and work on their witchcraft.

Then, just when they think they've perfected their special flying potion, Jennifer and Elizabeth quarrel over the main ingredient. Will it take a magic spell to make them friends again?

Why did I love this story so much as a child? From the distance of 50 years, it was easy to see: Elizabeth’s story is a story of hope for every 10-year-old who ever felt like they didn’t fit the mold of grownups’ expectations. It’s also a story of how relationships help us discover who we really are at heart, and how that awareness can lead us into ever more satisfying connection with others. Quite an achievement for a book that is so well crafted to delight a young reader! Highly recommend.

A childhood favorite

I have read this book multiple times since I was a girl in the 60s when I read it for the first time. It has not lost its appeal and it is beautifully narrated.
