About this listen
EXPERIENCE THE PASSION WEEK
Having grown up in the impoverished lower city of Jerusalem, Shamira is no stranger to injustice at the hands of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Her family is shunned by many in the Jewish community who believe that their misfortune in life is the result of a secret sin. Rumors are spreading of a nearby healer with incredible abilities; if the stories are true, then the Messiah may be near, and Shamira will stop at nothing in the pursuit of a miracle.
Asa spends every day at the temple under the tutelage of his strict father, an elite Levite priest who enforces the laws without mercy. Between the growing demands of the Roman government and the threats of the Zealots, tensions are high. When Shamira, the girl who stole his heart years ago, asks him to help her find the healer called Jesus, he must choose to either follow in his father’s footsteps or forge his own path.
Shamira knows that both her life and the lives of her loved ones could be changed forever, but only if she can find a way to speak to the man called Jesus of Nazareth before it's too late.

The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

The five main characters--a tax collector, a slave, a guard in Herod's Palace, a Pharisee, and the daughter of a Zealot--have all placed a false god on a throne in their life, only to see it overturned by the rabbi from Nazareth. "He has brought down rulers from their thrones. He has lifted up the ...

Three-time Christy Award winner Davis Bunn collaborates with Janette Oke to evoke the tumult of first-century Judea in the wake of Christ’s crucifixion. But when a rabbi’s missing body sends Leah and Alban after the same answers, what they discover could change all they hold dear.

Story
The auburned-haired O'Connor women share a bond far deeper than their striking physical appearance: These courageous, high-spirited women all push against societal limits in this exciting historical, romantic novel that spans generations and countries. It is said that as Cahira, daughter of the great Irish king Rory O'Connor, lay dying of a wound from a Norman blade, she beseeched God that others would follow her calling. To Kathleen O'Connor, Cahira's story was nothing more than a fable--until research divulged that the tale was true. As a stunned Kathleen realizes that she herself bears ...

What did he think as his world came crashing down around him? And what was life like after God restored his wealth, health, and family? Great Biblical Fiction
This was a very good book. I loved the story line and the way so many parts of scripture were woven into the characters’ lives. A real depiction of how the believers in Jesus must’ve felt when He was beaten and crucified; and how the new church in Jerusalem began. The narration was tolerable but not nearly as enjoyable as a real person’s voice. Some I’ve tried I just quit at the beginning. I listened to the entire book, so maybe the fake voices are getting better. Sad though, just another way to put real people out of a job.

Famtastic Book
I read the Publisher's review. But the review didn't do this book justice. This is the story of a family who lived during the time of Jesus. As a cultural expose, the writing is very informative. The several families have members who are more difficult and those members who are easier to get along with. Some of the characters are more difficult than others while others are more encouraging. Much as is today. How the families react to the public discourse of Jesus is most interesting.
Although I am not a fan of virtual voice, it was not too challenging to discern what the author was trying to say.

sweet story
The computer generated narrative was an improvement over other of her books, but still strange to listen to. The emphasis or lack there of instrange places. But I did finish this book where as I couldn’t other ones that were computer generated.
