About this listen

Chava, the Jewish daughter of a royal tutor, vowed to be faithful to her childhood friend Queen Cleopatra. But after they argue, Chava is ripped from her family and her privileged life and sold into slavery. When she finds herself alone in Rome, she must choose between love and honor, between her own desires and God's will.

New York Times best-selling author's newest biblical-era series.

Five decades before the birth of Christ, Chava, daughter of the royal tutor, grows up with Urbi, a princess in Alexandria's royal palace. When Urbi becomes Queen Cleopatra, Chava vows to be a faithful friend no matter what - but after she and Cleopatra have an argument, she finds herself imprisoned and sold into slavery. Torn from her family, her community, and her elevated place in Alexandrian society, Chava finds herself cast off and alone in Rome. Forced to learn difficult lessons, she struggles to trust a promise HaShem has given her. After experiencing the best and worst of Roman society, Chava must choose between love and honor, between her own desires and God's will for her life.

The way the story was put together while God was working out His plan

I liked the entire story. It was put together well and easy to follow. It was a beautiful lesson in forgiveness

Good story, poor narration

I can’t believe this narrator hasn’t gotten more negative reviews. Her voice is pleasant enough and that was the only thing that kept me going through this book. However, it seems like the narrator came unprepared. There are awkward pauses and hesitations before words which is distracting. There are also mispronunciations of common words like brooch pronounced as “brew-ch”, which makes me question how correct the pronunciation of uncommon words are. Overall, it came across as unprofessional.

Another consideration is that the narrator doesn’t really do different voices. Occasionally, there are some slight differences when there are a lot of speaking parts in a row. However, this might come down to preference.

With all that said, I do plan on giving this narrator another chance since I don’t think her work is so egregious to avoid good stories.

Exceptional and informative reading of the Bibical History as well as the history of Greece, Rome, Egypt and the struggles of those sold into slavery in other countries during this time period.

Egypt’s Sister

Powerful. Extraordinary. Well written. Loved this book, especially HaShem’s promise that he so faithfully kept.

Different View of History

This book takes you through an array of Egyptian, Roman, and to some extent Judean History. This is a story of trust, humility, friendship, betrayal, courage, defeat, human nature, love, and faith. It is a story of trial and triumph for those high-born, and those in the lowest rungs of society.
