Story
We were outnumbered, outfought. Mankind was about to fall to the alien Flock. Our only chance was a desperate gamble, transforming Tier One SpecOps agents into deadly super soldiers. In the end, we won the war, but we lost the peace. The Flock surrendered and spent the next two hundred years making reparations, indentured to humanity, doing everything humans did not want to do. And the evolved super soldiers were consigned to an endless sleep. Ready if ever needed, but in time they became myths. Abandoned and forgotten.

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Excellent Writing
I didn't realize I was buying an anthology- Oh well, Ray Porter is, in my opinion, one of the top 10 Narrators on Audible. With that said, the stories all include Joe Ledger in various situations (with the exception of one story, perhaps the weakest of them all. Still good but when I read/listen to this book again I will skip it). The stories are very very good. It will have you googling all the writers. The two stories that I didn't care for were about Ghost, narrated in first person, and the Dojo. Let me say this again, the writing is very very good. Even if you don't care for the stories you have to give a nod at the good writing.

Excellent Anthology!!
This was by far the best anthology that I've listened to! For die hard Joe Ledger fans, these stories provide a lot of background and interesting cross overs. BTW, I LOVED that Agent Franks from MHI was able to make a short appearance in the last Joe Ledger novel because of this introduction. All in all, there may have been 2 stories that were not up to normal Ledger standards, but the rest were excellent and well worth the credit.
I look forward to more!!

Another winner!
As always, Maberry does a fantastic job with a Joe Ledger compilation. The use of multiple authors brings new light and intrigue to Joe and the DMS. Once again, Ray Porter delivers an excellent narration studded with our favorite characters as well as new/crossovers. Keep em’ coming boys.

When I heard it wan an anthology I almost stopped
Any additional comments?
I listened to the book on a long road trip. It was fun to hear other authors' take on Joe and the team. Loved the different voices and perspectives. I actually expected to dislike it and listened to the entire only work because of the long trip. I am really glad I did -- this was a great way to find a list of authors I want to read. I appreciate the foreword and after on each author. I found the collection worthy. Ray Porter, as always, did a fantastic job.

Love Joe and Ray!
My favorite series, I love laughing out loud when we are inside Joe’s head. Best character ever, Ray is the best narrator by far, I would listen to anything he narrates. I hope Joe makes it to the screen, The only disappointment is the character won’t have Joe’s voice.

Thanks for this in more ways than one!
First, thanks to Mr Porter, whom the author acknowledges IS the voice of Joe Ledger.
Secondly, thanks to Mr Maberry, whom I know likes anthologies, for putting together this collection of terrific authors to tell more tales of the adventures of the DMS and the people that they protect. I have always been suspect of these types of editions, but damn this is a good one!
Finally, thanks more than you can imagine for the Ghost story. I am a dog person, and for reasons that I’m not aware of (yet), that story brought me to tears.
5 stars to all—and now I have a new collection of authors and audiobooks to investigate.

Team of spec ops writers enter the Joe ledger universe
Absolutely brilliant!!!! First I love that Mayberry has opened the world of Joe ledger to other authors. Brilliant job done by all. Cohesive to the established world of the DMS and its characters but fresh takes on stories for that world. Added bonus of a bunch of new to me authors to explore. And of course Ray Porter the voice of Joe ledger and all the DMS continues his brilliant narration. Soooo more please as soon as possible.
