About this listen

What would you do if the gynecologist subbing for your regular doctor turned out to be your old high school crush?

Successful psychologist Dr. Jennifer Monroe does what any normal, well-adjusted woman would do. She makes an excuse to send the doctor and nurse from the room, dives into her clothes, and flees!

Unfortunately, her running away makes conscientious Dr. Penrose conclude she has some kind of sexual hangup. He's determined to refer her to another doctor for her health's sake. If he can just talk to her, he'll suggest counseling for what he thinks are emotional problems.

Jennifer refuses to take his phone calls, and she plans to never see him again. After all, Dallas is a big city. What are the odds that she'd ever run into him again? Even money when Fate lends a hand.

When Jennifer and Matt meet at a charity gala, he earnestly urges her to seek professional help. Jennifer is incensed that he seems to think she's some frigid old maid. All the old high school resentment floods back, fueling her determination to teach him a lesson he won't soon forget.

With Jennifer, payback is a scorcher. Kids play doctor, but these doctors play seduction games. And they're playing for keeps.

Will Matt recognize Jennifer? Will Jennifer lure him into her bed? Seduction and sex can be pretty funny when both sides play dirty!

What was the rush? Too short/bad reader.

Would you consider the audio edition of Just One Look to be better than the print version?

I should have read it. I did not like he reader. I kept saying slow down!! She read parts so fast I thought she was running out of breath.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Just One Look?

When the man realizes who she is and understands that he is being played.

How could the performance have been better?

If the story had been read much slower it would have been better. What was the rush? I even tried to slow down the speed but it was way to slow. It was very inconsistent and bothered me so much that I couldn't wait to finish the story and move on.The description caught my attention but the characters were not developed. Characters were introduced but not developed - like the doctor he was sitting in for. The history between the two was very vague and I was surprised to hear that he had liked her all along as well. Didn't really make sense. The writer, like the reader, were in rush to finish the story.

Who was the most memorable character of Just One Look and why?

It's hard to say because the book was too short and I don't feel like I got to know the characters at all.

Any additional comments?

I thought the story and the characters could have been developed a little more. I wish there had been a little bit more about what they were like when they were younger. Develop the story about what happened - I didn't understand from the story that he was into her at all when she was younger. It felt like it was truncated and I was disappointed.

Great idea, poorly written and formulaic

It was such a fun premise, that I decided to pick it up and give it a try. Now I know romance novels are not known for their creativity, but the writer lost me at every turn. It was as though she was trying to be funny instead of actually being funny. People don't really think like that, these characters (who are supposed to be doctors!!) think and act like people who cannot tie their shoes. It could have been clever and fun, two really smart people trying to outwit each other. The only problem is, neither of them were written as though they had any brains at all. It was really disappointing.

Fantastic battle of the sexes romance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Just One Look is a fabulous listen - it's funny, fast, and vivid. It would be another great exercise audio book - but you won't be able to tell if it's your workout that is making your heartrate rise or this book!

Which character – as performed by Felicia Greenfield – was your favorite?

Felicia Greenfield was spot on with all the characters - but frankly when she became Dr. Matt - it was priceless.

Any additional comments?

Just One Look was such a great listen, I went back and purchased the ebook. I love doing that so I have a read as well. The writing and performance were both exceptional - so don't hesitate to purchase this romantic comedy.

Not worth the credit

The writing and recording were simplistic. It kept trying to get better but failed. It was not worth the credit.

I loved the story!

I loved the story - it was my first time listening to a romance audiobook - so cute and funny at times!
And everything falls into place, as it's supposed to be.

Yes, the narrator rushed a little bit in some parts, but it wasn't so bad. I could understand everything (and I'm not a native speaker).
