About this listen

If there’s one thing you should know about me, other than that I swear a lot, it's that I believe in destiny.

I don’t mean in the "wear crystals and do my chart daily" kind of belief, but more in the "there’s a breathtakingly beautiful universe out there, much older and wiser than I’ll ever be, so why not trust in what she has planned for me" kind.

Which is why when the opportunity of my career gets within my reach, I not only know it’s meant to be, I feel like my entire life is about to change. And I don’t just mean my relocation to Seoul, aka K-Pop Central.

You see, there’s this guy...I mean, isn’t there always? And full disclosure, there are actually seven - more details on that later - but the guy I’m talking about is, well, mine. He just doesn’t know it yet.

So yes, I believe in destiny, but who says I can’t nudge her along a little, even if it turns out to be much more than I bargained for.

My name is Rebecca "Rebel" West and this is my story....

BTS Fan Fiction FTW!!!

So here's the thing... I follow Amelia Oliver on Instagram and for the life of me could not understand her fascination (to put it mildly) with K-Pop and with BTS in particular - I just couldn't understand the attraction. Then my daughter came home for a visit from college with her own obsession with BTS and K-Pop and asked me to go with her to a special screening of a BTS documentary and of course I agreed because I was just honored that she wanted to share her fandom with me. I'm not gonna lie, after seeing Burn The Stage and receiving a crash course on BTS via copious amounts of YouTube videos, my interest was piqued and I thought it was the perfect time to dive in to K-Pop My Cherry and, as they say, that's all she wrote. I was a goner. Not only did Amelia Oliver do a fantastic job of fictionalizing the characters, she imbued the boys of KT7 (JK in particular) with a level of sex appeal that I neither expected nor was prepared for. It's definitely one of those books that I will reread repeatedly. Rebel's affinity towards Korean culture, her passion for her work and clients, and the way that her relationship develops with not just JK but the entire band made for an engrossing, entertaining, fun, and sexy story. I can not wait to read the rest of this series and I can safely say that I now fully understand (and share) the authors affection for K-Pop! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.

My Two Pennies

The audiobook for this story is great, these characters come to life and yes we’re being opened to the K-Pop world that Rebel is hooked on and there’s also so much more to this story then the music alone and you can’t help but be pulled in. The difference customs and seeing how an Americanized woman learns to adjusted a different way of life while continuing to fulfill her career job AND get to experience her ultimate crush up front and center is exciting and you can’t help but cheer her on. All the men in the group have their own personalities and you can’t help but adore each of them. This was such an enjoyable listen

A must read for K-pop/romance fans!

I thoroughly enjoyed the story line, the character development, and thought the narrator did an excellent job. Having only recently become acquainted with Korean culture, I was fascinated by the glimpses into Korean life which were served up in this book. Of particular interest to me was the focus on the fictional K-pop boy band. If you’re looking for romance with a Korean backdrop, peppered with bits of humor, this book is for you.
