About this listen

If anything, Karl Marx’s life reminds us of the power of the pen over the sword. During his lifetime, he lived in relative obscurity. Rather than making any waves, Marx was usually lucky just to make the rent. And to make the ongoing hardship of his life even worse, Karl Marx was afflicted with boils from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. This painful skin condition in his later years made even his beloved vocation of writing rather difficult.

But his pen would indeed demonstrate its power, and by the time 70-some years had passed since his demise, one-third of the entire planet would be living under regimes based upon his ideology.

You will hear about:

  • The makings of a revolutionary
  • The Communist Manifesto
  • Poor and deported
  • The folly of the French
  • Marx and the Civil War
  • And much more!

Love him or hate him, the power of Karl Marx’s pen, and his legacy, cannot be denied.

Really enjoyed hearing a crash course information Audible book on Marx's disastrous left wing life. Marx hated free market capitalism much like the left wing in the US. Marx died in poverty and much of his life was funded to support himself & family from a free market capitalist friend that owned his own textile business.

I rarely see a book about Karl Marx's life and this small book has satisfied my curiosity about his man. Unlike Lenin he does not believe in violence but education of the public and realize his communist vision gradually. If Lenin had adopted Marx's approach we might be in a different world now, for people will have the opportunity to examine what Marxism is really about.

A Great Summary of Karl Marx' life
