About this listen

In Kentucky Traveler, Ricky Skaggs, the music legend who revived modern bluegrass music, gives a warm, honest, one-of-a-kind memoir of 40 years in music - along with the Ten Commandments of Bluegrass, as handed down by Ricky's mentor, Bill Monroe; the Essential Guide to Bedrock Country Songs, a lovingly compiled walk through the songs that have moved Skaggs the most throughout his life; Songs the Lord Taught Us, a primer on Skaggs' most essential gospel songs; and a bevy of personal snapshots of his musical heroes.

For fans of Johnny Cash's autobiography, lovers of O Brother Where Art Thou, and fans of country music and bluegrass, Kentucky Traveler is a priceless look at America's most cherished and vibrant musical tradition through the eyes of someone who has lived it.

The reader done a wonderful job with this title. Loved hearing how Ricky put nuggets of Gods Word in his biography. I loved to hear about his journey in his life, music, and faith. Great read. I couldn’t stop listening. Couldn’t wait to get back in the truck to continue listening!!!

This was a well written book, and the reading was also fine. As a fan of Ricky Skaggs’ music, it was great hearing his story!

Some decent insight into bluegrass history but I can't listen to this when I'm driving because the constant jesus blather could make my eyes roll so far back that I wreck my car. I can't fault Skaggs for being true to himself, it just doesn't make for good reading. And it's not like this religiousity isn't already part of bluegrass, but if I had known it's be piled up so high I'd have worn waders.

Constant religious blather
