About this listen

WINTER

Sending him to prison was the worst thing I could've done. It didn't matter that he did the crime or that I wished he was dead. Perhaps I thought I'd have time to disappear before he got out or he'd cool off in jail and be anything but the horror he was. But I was wrong. Three years came and went too fast, and now he's anything but calm. Prison only gave him time to plan. And while I anticipated his vengeance, I didn't expect this. He doesn't want to make me hurt. He wants to make everything hurt.

DAMON

First thing's first. Get rid of her daddy. He told them I forced her. He told them his little girl was a victim, but I was a kid, too, and she wanted it just as much as I did.

Step two.... Give her, her sister, and her mother nowhere to run and no fuel to escape. The Ashby women are alone now and desperate for a knight in shining armor. But that's not what's coming. No, it's time I listened to my father and took control of my future. It's time I showed them all - my family, her family, my friends - that I will never change and that I have no other ambition than to be the nightmare of their lives.

It’s okay

I’ve only read 3 and I think I’m going to end it on this one , I’ve only gotten threw them because of audible. Definitely kill switch is the better of the ones I’ve read. Damon is chefs kiss, I just found the story hard to follow along at points, but overall not terrible

Not disappointed

The Devil’s Night Series is based on four friends and their love interests. Michael Crisp (Erika Fane), Kai More (Nikova Banks), Daman Torrance (Winter Ashby), and William Grayson III (Emory Scott).

INITIAL THOUGHTS:
Again.. I knew I was going to like this.. I was not disappointed in this book.

THOUGHTS AFTER READING THE BOOK:
This was by far my favorite book out of the series. Damon came a close second to being my favorite. There are things in this book that made me question myself, haha but other than that I loved it!

Damon is not my favorite…. If you have read the Devil’s Night Series who is your favorite? These books are a must-read!

I loved it!

I have loved all 3 books so far but Damon’s story has a little bit of everything. You hate him but you can’t help loving him.

this story line was exciting. I felt like I was watching a movie. I loved this entire book.

I loved the entire book. The epilogue made me want to cry because it was just the two of them from the beginning. Penelope, you won me over with this one

The man we hate to love

Good lord that was a rollercoaster. Damon is not a good guy. But he’s also not all bad. I’m so glad I listened to this book to get Damon’s full story, to give him the chance to be heard.

Narration was amazing.

The best of the 3 I've read so far

Love, love this book. I was initially very hesitant as I thought it would be sad. Damon and Winter's story surprised me though and I'm glad I decided to follow through.

I’ll defend Damon with my life

Damon Torrance has always had a special place in my heart. He is my most forgiven bad boy. This is one of those stories I wish I could read again for the first time so I decided to try to try listening to the audible version to change it up. The voice actor for the MMC did an amazing job at capturing the true Damon charm right down to the sad broken emotions. The voice actor for the FMC was okay. Not my favorite but I don’t have anything negative to say.

And now we get to know Damon

The tale of the horsemen, and the women they fall for, continues with Damon's story, where we delve deeper into the shadows of his past and gain a better understanding of the man he has become. Though a person's past does not excuse their future actions, understanding it allows us to grasp the motivations behind those actions. Damon's journey is a testament to this, revealing the scars that have shaped his choices and the inner turmoil that drives him forward.

The complex layers that Penelope Douglas is able to weave into her characters help forge a connection with them. Her storytelling allows us to discover different facets of each character, creating a tapestry of human experience that we relate to on multiple levels. Each revelation adds depth to the narrative, making it impossible not to empathize with the struggles and triumphs of these vividly drawn characters.

In Damon's tale, we witness not just a story of redemption, but narrative rich with emotional nuance. The relationships he forms, the bonds he breaks, and the loves he yearns for are all painted with a brush that captures the realities of life. Penelope Douglas captures the essence of human imperfection, illustrating how our pasts mold us, how our choices define us, and how love, in all its complicated forms, can both heal and harm.
