About this listen

My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods...or monsters. I still can't decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then there's Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn't felt anything for a hundred years. But there's something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what's broken in me.

Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I'm wondering if I was brought here intentionally - as the bait.

I enjoyed it

Overall it wasn’t a bad story. However, it was pretty predictable. It definitely had plot twists, but I kind of saw it all coming. But, I still enjoyed it it was just alright.

Twilight with an extra twist of eyeroll

I definitely struggled to finish this and needed to fast forwarding often. "It was written for teenagers with poor grammar..." this was said by my daughter.

Twilight Knockoff…but worse

The narrator annoyed me right away. Her voice reminds me of Alvin the Chipmunk. After just a couple chapters I could tell what the whole storyline would be. Definitely a Twilight knockoff…right down to the overprotective main male lead. It was painful to listen to the whole thing. Don’t waste your credits / $$$ on this one. I usually love young adult books, but this one was obnoxious.

Takes forever to get good!

Not my cup of tea, very mushy and drawn out. I am disappointed. I thought for sure the ending would be good, but it just didn't make me say WOW I have to read the next one, skipping book 2

Good Read

The book was so good that it took me one day to finish.
Give the book a try if you like vampires, witches and dragons.
I will say this book kinda reminds me of twilight.

Cute, fun

This is not earth shattering stuff, but its a cute and fun urban fantasy. vampires, romance, hot supernatural dudes, what's not to like? the long con of the main character is a little exhausting, but it's fine.

The narrator is great and I liked her, but I am taking off an entire star for pronouncing Flo-Rida incorrectly. You're not even going to TRY to figure it out? a quick Google search would have resolved this. I can't believe no one corrected it. It's really annoying and keeps coming up for several minutes of the book. I know that sounds nit picky, but you'll feel differently when you have to hear about flo-reeda for 10 minutes. ick. anyway. the rest was good.

The book is good, but the narration is awful

I read the story myself and liked it, but when I bought it on audible I couldn’t get past the narrators voice. It was so hard to listen to!

not bad but a little cringey

If you can get past the cringey lingo used its a decent story. It it would've been better without the million "AF"s. It sounded like an adult trying to stay current and just failing. Over-all it was a good story just could been executed a little better.
