About this listen

August Morrison and Ricardo Torralba would really like to live a quiet life—as quiet as life can be for a couple of eccentric hitmen, anyway. Unfortunately for them, they pushed their luck with the authors, and demanded a sequel. So now, whether they like it or not, they’re getting a third installment.

Yes, this is a revenge audiobook. Because we’re the authors, that’s why.

This time, August and Ricardo are in way over their heads, because there are few things more dangerous than owing a favor to the mafia. When that favor gets called in, though, it’s not to kill anyone—it’s to save them. Time is running out to find the source of tainted street drugs poisoning innocent people.

Now they’re caught in the middle of a deadly war between rival families, all while trying to dodge suspicious police and merciless drug cartels.

Maybe this time, August and Ricardo will learn their lesson and not demand another audiobook...assuming they survive this one.

Killer vs. Kingpin is the third installment in the Hitman vs. Hitman series that seems to have evolved from an alleged “standalone” to “yeah, we don’t even know”. They’re just too much fun to torture! Err, write. Too much fun to write.

another great addition 👍👍

📖 Story comment: good pace, entertaining characters, interesting story.
Another entertaining addition to this series - trouble manages to find Ricardo and August without them even trying. 😂
I enjoyed the drug storyline and getting to know more about the secondary characters. I'm liking the direction the personalities of the players are taking and enjoy the ongoing banter between them.
... I just NEED the next one NOW please ...

🎧 Narrator comment: Michael Ferraiuolo is a master story teller and these characters are his to own. He brings life and personality to every character and scene, he has good timing, inflections and intonations and delivers a masterful performance. 👍 👍

Fun, action packed!

Fun story filled with mystery, romance, and bullets. Lots of bullets. August and Ricardo owe a mafioso a favor and become detectives of sorts. Who is adding a deadly poison to the local illegal drug supply? An interesting twist for our hitmen. Of course there are ridiculously dangerous and incendiary scenes when the cartel and rival mafia family get involved, as well as the cops who suspect August of murder. In the end, two highly unlikely people band together with the heroes to save innocents in an epic battle for survival against all odds.

Action gold

Great book just as action pack as the last two. In the love story building up in it between the gangster and the cop so sweet sorry spoiler alert. But it’s a great read.

Cliffhanger

Lacking in spiciness. 1 banana pepper but it hits all the other needs. Funny, quirky, and August make it great. I love the blooming of 2 other characters.

MM Romance Thriller Assassins Chemistry and Banter

Third book in an enemies to lovers MM romance crime thriller about two assassins who are initially forced to work together to stay alive, and now two books later are in a relationship still filled with chemistry and banter.

This one felt a bit more serious than the previous two with their more established relationship, loved ones in danger that makes the situation hit close to home, and had them teaming up with a mafioso they owe a favor. Still had great action and twists, banter, shootouts, wild schemes, and fun undercover personas while they investigate and and get to the bottom of the case.
It was also fun to see the mafioso Silva reacting to them and their relationship, and Silva’s unresolved sexual tension with a detective investigating them and them needling him about it.

Totally love this series. Glad I got on audible; I will absolutely listen to the whole series again and the narrator Michael Ferraiuolo is fantastic as always.

August and Ricardo are back & I'm so here for it!

Narrated by the fabulous Michael Ferraiuolo, Killer vs Kingpin is fast-paced, action-packed, fun you come to expect from Cari Z & L.A. Witt.

I hope the authors continue to write/record more books for August and Ricardo. Perhaps a wedding?? Oh, the mayhem they could put poor August and Ricardo through during the planning and 'execution' of a wedding...

Disappointed

There was too much police and racial injustice in this addition for my liking. Part of my enjoyment of fictional books is to escape reality. Also the Ricardo and August in this book did not match the personality we've seen in the 2 previous books. Frankly I was bored , and though there was a lot of action I didn't enjoy this installment at all. Michael Ferraiuolo did a decent job with what he was given.
