About this listen

The seventh book in a series of procedural crime thrillers by #1 New York Times bestselling writer Jack Gatland, Killing the Music is perfect for fans of L.J Ross, Ian Rankin and Alex Smith.

When Dave Mansford, founding member of 80's band Alternator is electrocuted live on stage during a comeback concert, DI Declan Walsh and the team of the Last Chance Saloon are brought in to investigate whether it was a simple accident, or vicious murder. However, as they investigate further they find the surviving members of Alternator in the middle of a multi-million-dollar rights sale, a band whose lead singer disappeared in 1998 and has never been declared dead, and whose biggest success, the 1987 album Secrets and Lies seems to be cursed. With the bodycount climbing and with everyone keeping to their own version of events, can Declan discover what truly happened in a London recording studio over thirty years ago, and why everyone who was there that night has to die?

Over and over

Good grief! Anyone in police work to have this many issues during working, would definitely not be eligible for even the last chance saloon!! This is too much! Get some villains and stop messing with the characters!

Mostly good story

I get so tired of the main character being stupid. How many times is he gonna get plaid before he smartens up. He's so smart about so many things but so dumb about such other things. That character trait continues throughout the books and it's very annoying. It means that the character is not maturing or crawling. After being falsely accused of being a terrorist, you think he would really smart enough about dealing with the same people? It's just really dumb.

Good story

I’m tired of the books character Declan Walsh always getting trouble, surely there are more victims & he’s not so special to gain this much attention. And Angeline is such a busy body & snotty sometimes Linda Allen

Jumped the shark

Got half way through and couldn’t finish. The first couple of books in the series were well written with interesting dimensional characters. Now its a series of re-caps of previous books, the characters have become caricatures, and the whole “last chance saloon” plot point has lost its value and therefore any risk or reward for the characters.
