About this listen

From best-selling authors William W. Johnstone and JA Johnstone comes a blazing new saga of Duff MacAllister. One man, forging a destiny. One legacy, sworn to justice. One name, branded in the heart of America....

The legend lives!

The Scottish Highlands, 1885. Two men, brandishing knives, attack a young woman outside a pub. Duff MacAllister steps in and saves her - killing one of the assailants. Big mistake. The attacker was the sheriff's son, and now MacAllister is marked for death. His only hope: America. Here, in the sprawling land of dreams, Duff hopes to start a new life with his American cousins. Unfortunately, the sheriff's deputies are tracking him down - with nine of the deadliest cutthroats money can buy. Blazing a trail of blood and bullets all the way to the Rockies, Duff has to kill his enemies one by one - or die trying. But this time, Duff is not alone. He has a new ally by his side. A living legend of frontier justice. His cousin, the gunslinger known as Falcon MacAllister....

Never thought I'd be ragging on George Guidall

George Guidall has been one of my favorite narrators of many different action series and many westerns, but he fell way short on this book. P.J. Ochlan narrated the first 4 in this series and did the voices excellently. When the series -- and even more so this book -- revolves around immigrants with strong dialects, Scottish, English, Chinese, then someone who makes all the voices American just doesn't work. I was disappointed every time Duff MacCallister was speaking and even the Englishman and the Chinese man.
I rated the performance 3 stars because Guidall's voice is very easy for me to listen to and he has a good rhythm, but he just didn't work for this book.

new world order is lethal but temporary

great chatacter development and witty dialogue when needed to lighten the mood. the evil ones have no sense of humor and usually a deformed ear.

Kingdom Come

This is another good book about Duff. In this book an Englishman comes to buy a large herd of Cattle from Duff. A Scottsman and an Englishman they make a unique pair. Also A.M. Jaco escapes from jail and starts a gang (kingdom Come). They take over a town killing anyone in there way. Making it an Outlaw Town. Ends up in a big gunfight with Duff after the gang. Both versions of this book is good. I prefer the Dramatized version but these are good to also. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

Book Four

Fourth book in the McAlester series introduces some new characters and a new Narrator. The narrator was superb and switched between voices in a seamless conversation. I already downloaded Book 5 which I know I will enjoy as much as the previous ones.

Very good, but short ending

Overall, the story was good. The ending could have been played out over many more chapters. The book would have been excellent if extended a few more hours. I liked it still the same and would put it in the top category.

Disappointment

Definitely not impressed, not the usual Johnstone style. Very disjointed and say to much gore and violence.
