About this listen

He’s dead. She’s deadly. The bad guys don’t stand a chance.

The seventh book in the bestselling Skulduggery Pleasant series.

Magic is a disease. Across the land, normal people are suddenly developing wild and unstable powers. Wielding the magic of the gods, they’re set to tear the city apart, unless someone stands up to them.

For Skulduggery and Valkyrie, it’s going to be another one of those days.

‘A thoroughly satisfying blend of humour, magic and adventure’ Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series

Critic reviews

‘A real thriller … There are so many teasers that have you on edge, but there are also plenty of laugh-out-loud moments’ Inis

‘[Landy]’s just got it …His dry sense of humour, largely conveyed via Skulduggery himself, will have you quietly chuckling as you breeze through the pages’ Mybookcorner.com

‘I don’t know how Derek Landy does it, but each of his Skulduggery Pleasant novels surpasses the one that came before, and Kingdom of the Wicked is no exception. A stunning novel from page 1 to the last word’ The Founding Fields

Gripping Storyline • Brilliant Writing • Unique Character Voices • Intriguing Plot Twist • Witty Banter • Colorful Cast

One of the best books in the series. I can’t wait to read what’s left.

It’s just keeps getting better.

This series has a very colorful cast of characters and the villains are no exception. In this particular story we’re introducing to an antagonist with quite a different view of the world and personal beliefs. This story does a great job comparing different ideologies. The climax is definitely a fun one, I highly recommend this novel.

An interesting villain

Derek Landy's Skulduggery series is one that I can read over and over and over again! The story line is brilliantly written, and the characters are just so agreeable.
Stephen Hogan's voice is perfect! These set the audio book bar too high, it's almost a shame when I have to listen to anything else. :)

Derek Landy is a Genius! (Capital G)

Sometimes the author pulls the rules out of his ass. the narrator is good at doing everyone's voice but the main character's.

How dark the franchise has gotten. The ending was quite the mic drop.

This series isn't one that just repeats the same tired plot. Yes, there's always danger that Skullduggery and Valkryie have to avert, but it's fresh and impossible to put down! Derek Landy is one heck of a wordsmith.

Fantastic series!

I've really enjoyed this series. They're unusual and creative, and the characters are a lot of fun. My only complaint is that the volume fluctuates A LOT. You go from straining to hear the narrator to him shouting in your ear and back again. Whether that's the fault of the narrator or the producers I can't say, but it would be nice if the volume were more consistent.

Way fun series!

I love skullduggery pleasant. every single book is full of fun, thrill, and adventure. always a great story line. the narrator does it justice every character has a unique voice. brings life to the characters. if you are into. a hilarious, magic, fighting, and a gripping story with the right balance than i HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series

THE BEST SERIES EVER

This episode reinstates Landy's strong sense of banter and word play, though that gradually gives way to the drama of the tendency toward evil within the various characters - Scottish Jekyll-Hyde in Irish garb. On the negative side, there are numerous plot resolutions of the "out of nowhere in the nick of time" variety. And I do find the combat scenes rather boring, but perhaps necessary. The ending twist is truly something to reflect upon - and I think I saw it coming in book 6.

Retains intensity well
