Publisher's summary

Once upon a time, humankind ruled the world while lycans and vampires lived in secret.
This is no longer that time.

Calina

I have 36 hours to live.
Thirty-six hours to find a solution.
Thirty-six hours to kill them all.

My friends. My family. My subjects.

It's a cruel fate, one my maker subjected me to over a century ago when she placed me in this hell. I learned then that freedom is a falsehood. Escape doesn't exist. I'm a ticking time bomb, slated to erupt.

Until he appears from above. A vampire. A walking god with icy blue eyes. He claims to be our salvation, but I see him for who he really is - the devil in disguise.

Jace

I don't want to be king, but I'll become one if it means I can have her - the gorgeous ice queen I found waiting for me inside Lilith's labs. She feigns indifference, claiming I do nothing for her, but I see the embers stirring in her stunning hazel eyes.

Only there's more to her than a pretty little face.
She's neither vampire nor lycan.
An immortal without a classification.
A secret I must now contain in a world collapsing in chaos.

Welcome to the new beginning.
My name's King Jace. Allow me to be your guide....

Great story and narrators!

I love all of Lexi's book. Always so much action and steam. Calina is a strong character from start to finish. She is extremely smart and logical. Jace sees the benefit of keeping Calina just for what she know at first then more latter on. love this series! Sarah Puckett is really of my go to favorite narrator! I love the emotions she put into the characters voices. Same with Kale Williams. I love how he brings characters to life. Kale is my favorite male narrator!

Heartwarming and enthralling

As always Sara and Kale did an amazing job narrating this story and did it justice. This novel pulled on the heart strings but man was it delicious. King Jace finally met his match with this intelligent but broken heroine. And man is there chemistry between these two. I loved the dark humor that this series brought from the very first novel. This is one of my top favorite series!!! Can’t wait for more!

story kept you hanging

Some great storytelling, it kept you hanging at parts but not in a way that was unbelievable. I was hooked from book 1 and just had to know how it was going to end. I need book 6 to come out soon so I can find out what happens next with my favorite characters, (which is all of them lol).

Interesting twist

This was a good series. I like Lexi C Foss books and the narrators did a good job too. Book 5 had an interesting twist to it. I wasn’t expecting that. I can’t wait for 6.

Wow!!! What a twist!!!

The narrators in this audio are nothing short of amazing! This book picks up where Rebel Bitten (the fourth installment of Blood Alliance series) left off. This is a decadent and dark romance filled with action, sex and the building of trust within relationships that kept me listening.

I have been waiting for Jace, one of the most ancient vampires, to be the focus of his own story and it’s finally here with his new love interest, Calina. His character was only touched upon in the previous books and he is everything that I hoped he would be! Lexi has such a talent of describing the scenes and bringing these characters to life as though you are experiencing the story first hand.

The resistance, Jace, Damien, Darius, Ryder, Kylan and their mates continue to try to solve the mystery of whom the Liege is that Lilith has been sending programmed correspondence to. When the final pieces of this puzzle is assembled, everyone was in for a shock, Including myself!! What a turn of events!

I can’t wait for the next installment, Cruelly Bitten to be released! I only hope it’s sooner rather than later, I need to see how this whole thing unfolds!

Good

I liked it, but didn’t love it as much as the others. I felt like the book was more of a history lesson than a love story and it got sort of confusing after a while. It felt like it was missing the passion all the others had. But I still can’t wait for the next one to come out!

Addictive read / world ...

If you enjoy supernatural, dystopian-y reads on the darker side, you NEED this completely addictive world.

Foss’s writing only seems to get better and better, if that’s even possible. Calina is such a great female lead, having been basically programmed, yet still free-thinking.

Once again, I couldn’t help but admire Foss’s style … now that I’m 5 books into this series, I found myself reminiscing about the fact that I’ve been submerged in this incredibly dark world … yet there is always light to be found. She has this way of painting things to be incredibly dark … but as you read on—and it could take multiple books to get to this point—you realize it really isn’t all that dark. That was more world-building to show you the climate, etc. but there are admirable, lovable (yummy) heroes & heroines in the process of bringing about the needed change and things really have been looking better from the very beginning … even if you didn’t see it at the time. (Midnight Fae Academy comes to mind here as well. READ IT!!)

Utterly brilliant.

While enjoying this one, it occurred to me that I absolutely need to re-read this entire series. I’m not a re-reader, but I think going back now, I’ll appreciate the experience at least as much as the first time around, if not more. This is one that won’t get old and I expect I’ll notice more little things that I hadn’t the first time.

5 stars for epic world-building and great writing.
5 stars for re-readability.

ALL the stars.
I’ll be DYING until I can read on in this incredible world.

Audio:
The audio is really great. Sarah’s accent still trips me up quite a bit, which is another reason I need to re-read. I think I miss things while being distracted trying to figure out what she actually said. Her voice is beautiful and her performance is on-point. She just doesn’t pronounce things 100% perfectly. Little things, but they can change up the message and make me need to mentally catch up.

Kale is perfect, nice voice, great performance, smooth delivery.
Still: a 5-star performance, overall.

Interesting twist

Like the twist in the story but what happens…? Is another book coming out? What happens next?

🌻I was so excited for Jace to meet his match!🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I’ve really enjoyed this series but, I have to admit that this book didn’t flow quite as well, as the previous books. I enjoyed watching Jace meet his match and stop his whoring ways but, a lot of the events that happened, in this book, kinda came out of left field. It definitely wasn’t predictable but, the plot ,unfortunately, took some crazy turns. Maybe it will smooth out some, with the next book.
