About this listen

She was sent to forge an alliance with the deadly Oronis knights…and instead finds herself framed for abducting their queen.

Xenoanthropologist Kennedy Black loves exploring new cultures with Space Corps. Everyone in her life has left her, so she happily fills the void with exciting adventures. When she’s assigned to escort the new ambassador to the planet Oron for an opulent ball, she’s thrilled to get an up-close look at the Oronis knights and their culture of honor and duty to their knightqueen. But she never expected her reaction to cool, controlled Knightmaster Ashtin Caydor, head of the Oronis Knightforce.

And she really didn’t expect a savage alien attack that leaves the knightqueen missing and Earth fingered as the culprit.

Knightmaster Ashtin Caydor lives to protect his planet, his people, and his knightqueen. He came from nothing, and the code of knighthood is the cornerstone of his being. When Knightqueen Carys is abducted by their mortal enemies, the ferocious Gek’Dragar, he’s icily enraged, especially when he finds evidence that Earth, and the far too enticing Sub-Captain Kennedy Black, are involved.

But Kennedy vows to clear Earth’s name by helping Ashtin and his knights find the queen. As she and Ashtin embark on a risky mission to a dangerous jungle planet, they’re forced to rely on each other, and their sizzling chemistry is soon undeniable. But love can’t be an option, not for a knight bound only to his duty, and a woman whose heart already has too many scars.

Fun new series

Anna Hackett is an amazing author. I really enjoy all of the books, whether the romantic suspense or sci-fi like the rest of her stories they seem to continue from her previous and this was a great new group of characters and a fun storyline to read. The books are short so they’re easy to read and move very quickly. They are always worth your time .

Action Packed! Excellent Narration!

This is the first book in the Oronis Knights Series, a Sci-Fi Romance. This is a great introduction to the series! Kennedy and Ashtin's story is entertaining, and action packed. The world building is intriguing and captivating. Stella Bloom and Aaron Shedlock did an excellent job bringing this story to life. Looking forward to more in the series.

Excellent story and Narrators

I am a HUGE fan of this author and this, to date, has been one of my favorite narrations. Anna's books have a great balance of action, Sci-fi and romance. The Narrators did a great job of making all of the different characters and voices come alive.

Anew series I can't wait to delve deeper into

A fast-paced, action packed, danger filled story with suspense and passion as always with Anna's books. Ashtin and Kennedy have an instant connection and chemistry that cannot be denied, even if she is suspected to be the enemy. But if she's the enemy, why does Ashtin find himself fighting uber protective instincts to keep her safe at all costs? And Kennedy is no slouch herself, severely protective of Ashtin and fierce in battle. A new series I cannot wait to delve deeper into, with an sci-fi element to take your imagination on a ride and awesome narration by Stella Bloom and Aaron Shedlock to bring it to life as these two find an HEA during battle.

The start of another excellent series from Anna Hackett.

4.5 Stars

Kennedy Black is a xenoanthropologist who works for Space Corps. She craves adventure, and her latest assignment is to pave the way for the ambassadors from Earth with the Oronis Knightforce. She’s excited to meet them and to work with them, as they are legendary. Knightmaster Ashtin Caydor is the leader of the Oronis Knightforce; his raison d être is to protect his planet, his people, and his knightqueen. Unfortunately, his planet has a deadly enemy. While the Oronis Knightforce has been honing their skills over the years, so has their enemy—the Gek’Dragar. There was a deadly battle a while back, and the Oronis thought they had vanquished them for good. However, recently, there have been lots of unexplained security glitches mixed with increased activity around the Gek’Dragar. On the night of a big Oronis celebration, the Gek’Dragar capture Carys, the Oronis knightqueen. All signs point to Kennedy and the group from Earth as being responsible for the abduction, so Kennedy makes it a priority to prove her innocence and the innocence of the others from Earth.

To do this, she has to work closely with Ashtin. It follows that as they get to know each other, they begin to trust each other and they discover that their skills complement each other. They face adversity and danger, and encounter good as well as bad characters along the way. Soon they are inseparable and working as a strong team. There is a bunch of hawt chemistry at work with these two protagonists, and they gain knowledge about where to find Knightqueen Carys. They don’t actually find her, as that part of the story continues beyond this book, but they get really close at times and they follow every clue they find.

Action, adventure, danger, challenge, and sexual chemistry surround these two protagonists. Expecting anything less from this author is unrealistic, as she always delivers!

The audiobook narration is excellent. These two narrators bring the story to life with interesting accents, varying voice cadences, and an array of voice depths throughout the performance. There aren’t any unexplained or unexpected noises evident in the recording and the quality is high.

First in a new series

A new series that hits the ground running. The Oronis Knights were introduced in the Eon Warriors series and her fans have been looking forward to their stories. This one starts fast and keeps up the pace to the end. The characters are smart and tough (and really sexy), and the locations sound amazing and sometimes scary. Stella Bloom and Aaron Shedlock do an awesome job of bringing the characters to life with individual accents, tones and cadences to each characters that let me recognize each one immediately. If you enjoy syfy romance tales this is one to read, and if you'er a fan of the Eon Warriors series, there's the bonus of seeing some of the characters from that series here. Enjoy!

Fragile Alliance

We finally get the backstory on the mysterious Oronis! As Earth begins a new alliance with the Oronis, an enemy of the Oronis strike and take the Knight Queen.

This spurs everyone into action to prove Earth was not involved as well as save the Queen and her guard.

So much happens and I love it all. You're going to love Beep!

No thank you

I used to like Ms. Hackett’s stories, but stop reading them for some reason. After purchasing this one, I remembered why. I believe in a slow burn romance but when the female MC wraps her legs around the male’s waist after the second meeting, I’m done. I like to get into the story before I get into the sex. Her stories weren’t like that at first. When the two main characters are panting after each other before, they barely know each other‘s name, is not entertaining to me. Sexual attraction is slow, steady building and irresistible until there’s no other option but an explosive release. The kind of erotica in this story is just kind of meh-too fast too soon.
